Had a visitor this week that is going to be the next big name in how performance training is viewed.
@chippera10 has helped me think through a load of training concepts and return to play plans with our athletes. Every time we are together, I leave feeling dumber than when I came in.
Dude just drove multiple hours from home to spend a day in Charlotte to visit. A testament to who he is and how young coaches need to handle themselves more.
What you can learn, on both ends, in person is irreplaceable.
Burn the gas. 📈
Restorative strength training is a modified S&C approach that focuses on athletes embattling injuries or metabolic impairments.
This requires a dissolution of what we’ve been led to believe is required for S&C. Chasing performance is one lane but not the only lane of what we do.
This is Myron Rolle. He is one of, if not the most unrecognized & under appreciated pro athletes of all time.
A short list of achievements:
•# 1 overall player out of HS (‘06)
•College All-American at FSU
•Oxford grad
•NFL football player
•Neurosurgeon
But there’s more ⬇️
The overarching goals for a movement literacy session are simple:
1⃣ Improve the athlete’s movement awareness & understanding of their body
2⃣ Provide clear insight on what they can expect throughout the training process

Want to be a better coach?
Get really good at solving problems.
Build your skill set out to be versatile & adaptive. Everything is easy in theory, the good ones find a way, the great ones make a way.

It’s hard enough to try and hit a 75mph pitch from just 46 feet away.
Now imagine doing it with vision in only one eye.
Here’s more on Josiah Porter, from tragedy to triumph at the #LLWS. Grab some tissues.
"These meridians represent lines of chronic stress or critical load vectors whereby the meridians overlay specific regions of anatomy that are activated during common everyday life & sport activities."

A quick video discussing the importance of balancing connective & contractile tissues during training.
It’s important to recognize soft tissue & muscles don’t respond to training stimulus proportionally. For this reason, different inputs are needed.
Force isn’t everything. 👇🏼
🚨Principles of Human Performance
I have learned a lot of the last several years. Far too much to squeeze into a single article. Over the next few weeks I’ll be releasing this series covering training, coaching, pro development, & more. Part 1 below 👇🏼

The thigh switch is fundamental for several aspects of sport. Kinetic sequencing, movement timing and general motor patterning are all key aspects to elucidate force.
Drills like these are simple ways to get more out of your accessories beyond pursuit of force.
Hip isometrics are a part of the bedrock for any athlete we work with.
Taking some concepts here from @XLATHLETE this is a good multiplanar series that can be adjusted to meet sport demands specifically.
•Precise angles
•Potentiation effect
•Terminal strength
