Happy Engineers' Day

[Cosmoserve Space @CosmoserveSpace]

Happy Engineers' Day! 🛠️

When scientists discover, engineers take up the challenge of turning that discovery into something the world can actually use.

Every bridge we cross, every satellite that keeps our GPS running, every rocket that leaves the ground; all of it started as an idea that an engineer had to make real.

The world we see today is built by engineers.

On this day, at @CosmoserveSpace , we remember Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the legendary engineer whose birthday we mark as National Engineers' Day.

Thanks to every engineer out there turning ideas into reality.

[Cosmoserve Space @CosmoserveSpace]

Happy to have met the Honourable IT, Industries & Commerce Minister of Telangana, Shri Shridhar Babu Duddilla @OffDSB , on behalf of @CosmoserveSpace along with 13 other space tech startups from Hyderabad.

Hyderabad truly has all the ingredients to become India’s leading space hub. Together, we proposed supportive mechanisms for the sector, and it was encouraging to learn that many of these are already under consideration by the government.

This meeting helped align user requirements with policy refinements, paving the way for stronger schemes to support innovation. We look forward to the upcoming announcements from the government.

A special thanks to IT Advisor to Government of Telangana, Shri Sai Krishna for facilitating this important dialogue between founders and the government.

[Chiran @chiran333]

Happy to meet the Chairman of INSPACe, Dr. @GoenkaPk at his office in Ahmedabad. We discussed the progress of ongoing missions and plans for upcoming ones at @CosmoserveSpace .

His assurance, “Call me anytime if you get stuck anywhere”, reflects the intent of the government.

When @CosmoserveSpace is placed on the front line, we see it not as recognition but as a responsibility to deliver.

National Space Day

Every year on August 23rd, India celebrates National Space Day, marking the anniversary of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander touching down near the Moon's south pole in 2023.

Only a handful of countries possess the capability to build advanced space technology, but none can match India's cost-effectiveness in getting there.

This day stands as a tribute to the curiosity, tenacity, and precision engineering of every scientist and engineer who made the mission possible.

[Chiran @chiran333]

Privileged to have met Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi, representing @CosmoserveSpace, the youngest company among 20 space tech startups invited to Seva Teerth.

What surprised me is that PM Modi remembered our Paris conversation at VivaTech with President @EmmanuelMacron, and asked about its outcome. He also suggested we collaborate with international environmental organizations to scale up our space debris removal solutions. 🌍

🧵 Key takeaways:

1️⃣ Congratulated founders for believing in the govt's space policy & taking the entrepreneurial leap. Consistent progress is now the ask.

2️⃣ India is at a pivotal moment — talent to build world-class tech at costs no other nation can match. Time to seize this and serve the globe.

3️⃣ As Gujarat CM, he used space tech to plan school distribution & mobile tower placement. Insisted every department must now leverage space.

4️⃣ Build for agriculture & beyond. Serve humanity and raise awareness on space-based solutions.

5️⃣ Space holds immense potential. Time to tap in.

6️⃣ Urged startups to engage with Atal Tinkering Labs to inspire school kids.

Thank you @INSPACeIND for the opportunity 🙏

Happy National Space Day 🇮🇳 — August 23

August 12, 2026

I was deeply honoured and humbled to receive the prestigious #SpaceGoldMedal from the @ASIndiaSpace , presented by former @isro Chairman Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar and the current @isro Chairman and Secretary, Department of Space, Dr. Narayanan, in the presence of Dr. Anil Bhardwaj, Director of Physical Research Laboratory (PRL).

The day held special significance: it marked the 107th birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space programme, and the venue was the Physical Research Laboratory, the very first scientific institution he established.

Receiving this medal from both the current and former Chairmen of ISRO, on Dr. Sarabhai's birth anniversary, at this historic venue, made the moment truly unforgettable.

I dedicate this recognition to the team at @CosmoserveSpace , who continue to develop innovative technologies in pursuit of space sustainability.

[Chiran @chiran333]

This post is incomplete without a mention of my supporters.

@PawanKChandana, who has been a mentor to me in establishing this company.

My first investors, who trusted me early on; Alan Rutledge, Chetan Mehta , Ram Shriram, and Keval Desai .

@INSPACeIND and @isro , for their continuous support.

[Chiran @chiran333]

Today marks the first anniversary of @CosmoserveSpace ; the day our first three employees, Soumya Kanti Mahapatra, Smit Rambhiya and Keesari Sai Divya, joined us. Thank you for placing your trust in me and joining me on this mission.

Some notable milestones from the year
1.Talent: 3 → 18
From hunting for people a year back, to hundreds of applications coming in from a single post today.

2.First space mission.
Flew our soft robotic petal payload in space, most systems performed as expected, with valuable learnings on capture actuation to carry into version 2.

3.Pitched to President of the French Republic, @EmmanuelMacron , in the presence of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi .

4.Recognized by prestigeous platforms

5. Collaborations with top names globally in the space industry.

6. Raised significant capital from top tier VCs
More announcements to follow.

7. State-of-the-art test facilities coming up, spanning 14,000 sq. ft.

[Chiran @chiran333]

Mission Embrace: What Went Right and What Taught Us Lessons

1. Actuation System: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
2. Capture System: Petals didn't open. Data gave good insights.
3. Control Electronics: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
4. Hold-Down and Release Mechanism: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
5. Software & Algorithms: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
6. Communication System: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
7. Power System: Worked. Confirmed through telemetry data.
8. Structural Elements: Worked. Confirmed through video feed.

With these insights, the version 2 hardware is getting ready.

I won't say the mission was a success, but the flight test was definitely a success.

For the first time ever, soft robotic petals were tested in space.
