Veteran venture capitalist @kevaldesai shares how NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang runs an algorithmic playbook when it comes to M&A across a 5-layer-cake:
"I think Jensen's been pretty articulate in terms of outlining their playbook when it comes to M&A. I think he said publicly that he wants to do things that are not being done by others".
"I think you can see this is like an engineer who is executing almost like an algorithmic playbook when it comes to M&A".
"I mean, if you look at the five-layer cake that he talks about: they bought Groq, they've made strategic investments in the Neoclouds, and now we get to the model layer".
"Nemotron was their first foray into open weights, and I think what he sees—and perhaps what others see here—is that there's clearly a trend towards open weights, and there is some apprehension about using Chinese models, at least for US customers, and we need a strong alternative that's based on home soil"
"So I think that this fits very well within the strategy they outlined—whether it's an outright acquisition or a strategic investment, I think it's clear that Nvidia wants to promote open-weight models".
Always fun = Thanks for having me
@etnshow@lukeknight@Ronanchamberss = bottom line = Innovation starts proprietary & diffuses openly = Jensen is the White Knight to AI as Redhat was to the Internet = next decade is the best decade as AI becomes affordable, safe & customized
Are we over building AI infrastructure?
SHAKTI Partner Liz Harrow discusses.
"Less than 1/5 of data centers that have been announced, are actually even started construction. So there's not going to be an overcapacity for a long time," Harrow explains.
Thank you @PayneMarketTalk and @FoxBusiness for having me on last Friday to talk about all things AI and Gen Z...
Safe to say I'm excited for the AI bloom...
1/5
At the start of 2024, I messaged 800+ engineers.
I interviewed over 250.
And when I found the perfect person, I did everything I could to get them.
I even wrote a personal letter to our now-engineer’s family convincing them this was the right move.
1/ At Studio Jadu, we want to enable artists to create the future. Not mimic the past.
Today, I’m excited to announce our formal launch, backed by Khosla Ventures and Shakti VC, and invite creators to join us.

The AI buildout has the potential to be "way bigger" than the internet and cloud computing eras.
@liz_harrow, Partner at @Shakti_VC, tells @JD_Durkin hyperscalers are racing to buy up data centers to future proof themselves, and unlike those past eras, "AI isn't just at the digital layer, it's also in the physical world."

The LLM crew need to talk to the AV folks = AI has been deployed already where it can actually cause material harm = the solution is to regulate the specific use case, not the production of the technology itself = someone at Anthropic/OpenAI pls call Waymo, Gatik, Aurora.
Shakti VC Founder @kevaldesai on Anthropic's $30T potential TAM and why trillion-dollar AI revenues might not be as crazy as they sound:
"Six billion of those people pay for electricity regularly. The average annual bill is roughly $500."
"Trillion dollars in revenue means that two billion people, one-third of those people, are paying $500 for AI."
"Is that far-fetched? It's actually not that far-fetched if you think about in terms of human scale."
"One can imagine not just one but several companies with trillion dollars in revenue."
"Nvidia is pretty close. They're looking at $400 billion end of this year, growing 70 to 80% year-over-year."
$200M raised.
Driverless freight operating commercially today.
Customers like @pepsico already relying on us. Demand accelerating.
This round is a strong vote of confidence in the business @Gatik_AI has built and gives us the capital to scale it much faster. Thank you Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), @DisruptiveKoch, @ARKInvest, Millennium Management, Intact Private Capital.
Proud of this team and excited for what we get to keep building.
It was wonderful to meet the Yuva Urja of India’s space sector…young entrepreneurs and innovators who have shown remarkable courage by entering a new and demanding domain. They have taken risks, trusted the reform process and remained consistent in their efforts. Due to this, India has achieved a lot in the space sector in the last few years.
The StartUps made insightful presentations on their work. They also appreciated the space reforms of the Government and how it encouraged them to grow further in this sector.
I assured the space StartUps that Government of India will continue to stand with them as they build India’s capabilities for the future. India can offer the world a strong, innovative and commercially viable model in the space sector.

The biggest mistake consumer founders make?
They think they're building products. They're actually building moments.

.@Shakti_VC Founder @kevaldesai says AI is where the internet was in the late 1990s.
He argues every major technology wave needs three ingredients before it transforms society at scale:
1. Mass adoption.
2. A viable business model.
3. An open-source ecosystem that makes it affordable and accessible.
"ChatGPT gave AI mass adoption. Coding agents created the business model.
"Now open models are becoming AI's Linux moment.
"I think we're at the end of the beginning. The real commercialisation and mass adoption of AI is only just starting."
@SpaceX kicked off the era of S Commerce. The next decade is going to be an exciting one! Check out @kevaldesai thoughts on the opportunity. Cc @Shakti_VC
“The next decade in space is going to be full of startups. Not just the large companies and the governments, but startups, or the true Silicon Valley entrepreneurial ecosystem participating in the space commerce economy.” https://t.co/DWgtY8Z35l
Thank you @sam_vadas for today's conversation on AI = we are at the first hydration break = proprietary AI started strong = next comes open source AI = overall more AI Bloom than gloom as we enter the modern Renaissance = AI enables everyone to be entrepreneur instead of employee
