Do you know the worst thing about Cristiano Ronaldo?

It’s that he set the standards for what defines a legend… and in the end, he couldn’t even live up to the standards he created himself.

After winning Euro 2016, Ronaldo said:

“You can’t become a legend until you win a trophy with your national team.”

It was an obvious dig at Messi.

Argentina had just lost the 2014 World Cup final to Germany, and Messi was going through the toughest period of his international career. Those words only added fuel to the fire.

Where was the respect for a rival, Ronaldo?

The surprising part was that social media completely embraced that narrative. Messi was labeled a bottler, while Ronaldo was declared the winner of the rivalry—at least in the media, not on the pitch.

Then Messi retired from international football, came back, won the Copa América, and suddenly they were level in major international trophies.

What happened next?

Ronaldo fans started saying that one Euro is worth more than a hundred Copa Américas, claiming there was no competition in South America. Not true—but that became the excuse.

Then Messi went on to win the World Cup.

This time, the excuses changed again.

They claimed FIFA had fixed the tournament for Messi. That the World Cup was scripted in his favor. They simply didn’t know what else to say.

Then Ronaldo himself came out with one of the strangest quotes imaginable:

“A legend’s career can’t be defined by just seven games.”

At first glance, it sounds reasonable.

But beneath it was another attempt to diminish what Messi had achieved.

Before the World Cup, they insisted it would be Ronaldo’s tournament. On paper, Portugal had a fantastic squad. If the manager couldn’t get the best out of them, that’s Portugal’s problem—not Ronaldo’s.

Yet that same Portugal squad wasn’t any weaker than the Argentina team Messi led to the 2014 World Cup final—the same team people mocked Messi for not carrying to the title.

Just a couple of days ago, Ronaldo said:

“The World Cup doesn’t define my career, whether I win it or not.”

A statement that directly contradicts what he had said years earlier, when he admitted that winning the World Cup would make him feel completely fulfilled.

Now you’re 41 years old, Cristiano.

By your own standards:

* You have 5 Ballon d’Ors, not 8.
* You have one European Championship, not two Copa América titles.
* You never won the World Cup.
* You have four European Golden Shoes, while Messi has six—even though you’re an out-and-out striker.

So what now?

Will you keep playing until the next World Cup and become the first player to appear in one at 45, hoping to finally win it?

If we judged you by the standards you created, you wouldn’t qualify as a legend.

Of course, nobody actually judges you that way. Everyone still recognizes you as one of football’s greatest legends.

The real mistake was comparing Ronaldo to Messi in the first place.

That rivalry was exaggerated from the beginning by the media and figures like José Mourinho.

Messi conquered every major trophy available to him, shattered records that once seemed untouchable, and at 39 years old he’s still competing with Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland—the stars of the next generation—for the Golden Boot. And honestly, he could still win it.

What made Messi beloved by so many fans is that he never tried to diminish Ronaldo’s achievements.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, repeatedly made comments that many interpreted as attempts to downplay his greatest rival’s accomplishments—and that’s never an admirable trait.

Cristiano helped create a generation that thinks belittling other people’s achievements while constantly glorifying your own is a way to establish dominance.

Dear beloved sports-loving Nigerian youths,

After watching the performances of Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema at the opening of the 2026 World Cup—at a time when Nigeria, the giant of Africa, is absent—I felt a measure of consolation. This was reinforced by the fact that many Nigerians playing for clubs worldwide are representing other countries. Felix Nmecha, for instance, set a record by scoring the fastest goal at six minutes for Germany. I write to you therefore, knowing that this country belongs to you, the youth.

You are more of stakeholders in Nigeria’s future than I am. I am 64 years old; by God’s grace, much of my journey is behind me, while yours lies ahead.

It is therefore imperative that you rise to the challenge by obtaining your PVC, your most powerful tool for driving the change you desire.

In the last three years alone, over 15 million Nigerians have turned 18—enough to decide who becomes President, Governor, Senator, Member of the House, or Local Government Chairman. Indeed, enough to shape the nation’s future.

I know many of you are sceptical about politics and political parties. I understand why, but scepticism must not become surrender.

You do not need to belong to any party or wait for anyone to organise you. Organise yourselves in your streets, campuses, communities, workplaces, churches, mosques, and social groups. Mobilise, debate, demand accountability, and take part in choosing those you wish to entrust with leadership.

If you are organised and wish to hear directly from me, invite me. I will come and share my plans for you and our nation.

Do not sit on the sidelines while others decide your future.

I appeal to you to register and vote. Your vote can shape who becomes the next President of our country.

My young friends, this is your country. Take it back.

"She Has PCOS” - A balanced take for both MEN and women

Dear Enogie,

I write this not with indignation, but with the weight of a world that often speaks in silences and assumptions. I write with love, and with the gentle insistence that comes when silence begins to rot the soul.

I'll say, Women started all these segregation criteria, if we are all being honest. The criteria list is crazy sometimes. Now, men seem to be retaliating... but that's not the way!

Yes, we all have the right to choose whom we love, whom we build with, whom we wake up beside when the light is soft and the world is still. We are human, and choice is the sacred crown of our humanity. But sometimes, under the bright halo of rights, a shadow stretches...its name is stigma.

@just_lawson__ ... you na guy man...As a guy man... You said, “She has PCOS.” And your words trailed off like a sentence afraid of its own end. As though that single line was enough. As though you expected the world to nod in agreement, to clasp hands and whisper, Oh, of course. But nothing about that line was complete. It was bare, it was brittle, and it begged for more. You would have gone furthet.

Would you say, “She walks with a limp,” and stop there? Would you say, “He stutters,” and consider the case closed?

I can’t tell you who to love, just as I can’t tell a woman that she must love a man who is battling demons of the body or mind. But I can ask gently, and then not so gently...that we all step back and think.

PCOS is not a scarlet letter stitched on a woman’s skin. It is a complex, often silent condition. A condition that your sister could have. Or your niece. Or your daughter. Or your mother, who bore you anyway.

Some women discover they have PCOS while chasing answers in sterile clinic rooms. Others live with it unknowing, their bodies adapting in mysterious, quiet resilience. Yes, it can bring irregular periods. Yes, it can make conception harder. But I know women...real women...who were told they would never have children, and now sing lullabies to babies wrapped in joy.

To the women with PCOS, do not let this world label you “less.” Join support groups. Learn. Cleanse your mind of self-doubt. See a specialist. Optimise your health. But above all, remember this: your worth is not up for debate. You are not a second-place prize.

And to the men, especially those who mean well but do harm without knowing
..be kind. You don’t have to marry a woman with PCOS. You don’t have to stay. But do not reduce her to a condition. Say it fully. Say, “I’m afraid I may not handle this.” Say, “I don’t understand this enough to commit.” But don’t say “She has PCOS” like a verdict.

Also, let’s not pretend women haven’t drawn long, unrealistic lists of “must-haves.” A six-foot man, with a six-figure salary and a six-pack. Men are now learning to say no too, and maybe, just maybe, some are retaliating...not rightly, but understandably.

Still, let’s not make pain a tennis match.

My body has been through war. Three major surgeries. I told my partner about each one. Transparency is not weakness..it is the only way trust can grow roots.

So if you have PCOS, say it. Let your partner decide. Because if you hide it, it becomes deception, not discretion. And deception in love is a seed that grows thorns.

Here is what I know for sure:

● We have the right to choose. But not the right to belittle.

● PCOS is not a deal-breaker; ignorance is.

● If you wouldn't want your daughter rejected for her diagnosis, don’t make rejection your default.

Let empathy be the language we speak before judgment.

To the PCOS warriors...fight, yes, but also rest. You are not broken. You are beautifully human.

To everyone else...no one is perfect. Not even the man writing this.

And yet, we are still worthy of love.

Always.
