A US federal judge in New York has permanently dismissed (with prejudice) the criminal fraud and bribery case against Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and former Adani Green CEO Vneet Jaain.

The charges, filed in November 2024, alleged a conspiracy to pay $250 million in bribes to Indian officials to secure solar power contracts expected to generate over $2 billion in profits, while also misleading investors during more than $3 billion in US fundraising.

The Justice Department under the Trump administration asked the court to drop the case, arguing it no longer served the interests of justice due to major jurisdictional and evidentiary problems, the predominantly Indian nature of the alleged conduct, the lack of identified investor losses, and the fact that Indian authorities had already examined the matter.

Prosecutors also described the original indictment as a politically motivated “name and shame” exercise by the outgoing Biden administration.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis approved the dismissal after requiring the government to explain its reasons publicly and obtaining sworn statements from the defendants confirming there was no secret deal or quid pro quo (including any link to Adani’s earlier $10 billion US investment pledge).

The dismissal ends the criminal proceedings before any trial.

Adani welcomed the ruling, saying his faith in truth and the rule of law remained unwavering.

Today, the Government Pleader for @tnhrcedept told a BLATANT LIE - without any sense of remorse or abashment - that the Dikshitars sold 2000 acres out of the 3347 acres endowed to Chidambaram Sri Nataraja Temple.

This is a TOTAL LIE.

If the Govt Pleader puts this in an affidavit - he will be risking perjury.

When the Chidambaram Temple accounts case was taken up today in Madras High Court, the Court was told that more than 3000 acres of Chidambaram Temple lands were under the control of the Special Tasildhar - Temple Lands who is not even realising Rs. 300 per acre. The Special Tasildhar is under the control of HR&CE Commissioner.

When the Hon'ble Bench questioned the Govt Pleader regarding the very poor collection, he immediately came out with a falsehood - Dikshitars have sold away 2000 of the 3000 acres.

This @tnhrcedept - looters of Hindu Temples - thrives on FRAUD and FALSEHOODS.

I will expose them thoroughly in the Courts.
