Well, NWS is officially here. No one is talking about the added time/money it takes to now check every head once a week. VERY long process to run 9k head through the chutes one at a time to check their entire bodies. Curious to see how this affects behind the counter beef prices. We are NOT passing the extra costs on to consumers but I’m sure most will. Regardless, it needs to be done for the animals well being which is our number one priority.

UPDATE: New World Screwworm is no longer contained to Texas.

USDA says that the infested dog announced earlier today lives in Lea County, New Mexico and will be reclassified as the first detection in that state.

And now a goat in Gillespie County, TX, has also been confirmed.
