@SocialSecurity calls it a “Compassionate Allowance.” They say it’s an expedited process for the most severe cases—like my wife’s Stage IV Ovarian Clear Cell Carcinoma.

But where is the compassion in the DENIAL?

They acknowledge she has < 6 months to live. They acknowledge her condition is terminal. But because she has the incredible mental strength to keep working full-time to keep her sanity and spirit alive, they’ve slammed the door in our face.

The 'Compassionate' choice would be to let a dying woman access the benefits she’s paid into since high school. Instead, the SSA is sticking to their guns: because she earns more than $1,620/month, they say she is 'gainfully employed' and therefore 'not disabled.'

The ultimate insult? They are STILL taking $300+ out of her paycheck every 2 weeks. They are taxing a terminal patient $600/month for a safety net they refuse to let her use. That money rightfully belongs to her—for medicine, for food, for rent, and for her dignity.

A husband shouldn't have to fight a broken system while trying to provide for his dying wife during their most trying time. This is how @SocialSecurity treats our lifelong workers? This is how we treat a productive citizen of this country?

This isn't a safety net; it's a trap. A terminal prognosis should override a paystub. Stop penalizing my wife for her bravery!!!!
