@pbcmike98@TharosProject@JordanJay078@needGod_net How about, "what about his victims"?
Do you not find it twisted that Jeff's non-Christian victims are burning in a pit of fire, while he, the one who killed them, is in paradise?
He ripped their lives from them. Even worse, what if they would've converted to Christianity later?
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 What basis do you have to say that Jesus was sane and correct and Marshall was clearly just a wrong lunatic?
How would the Gospels disprove that? They are not historically accurate documents.
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 I don't have any doubt that the apostles genuinely believed it, just like I don't have any doubt that Heaven's Gate members genuinely believed Marshall.
But that doesn't mean it was true. Every point you've made could be made parallel with Heaven's Gate, like I just showed you.
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 What Marshall Applewhite claims is he is Jesus. While the origins of Heaven's Gate is Christianity, Marshall is changing everything. If we made it up we wouldn't die for it, especially if we were already Christians, because we'd condemn ourselves.
Do you see now?
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 I agree with the other guy, you could say the same thing about Christianity. The whole religion is based off misinterpretations of the OT.
Why do you think Christianity only spread among the gentiles who didn't know the text? The well-versed Jews clearly saw it as wrong.
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 Also, your two sentences don't make any sense. They invented the lie, and then died for it? So people do die for things they know are lies?
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 What? The members of Heaven's Gate did not invent the lie, lol. Their leader Marshall Applewhite did (who also died for the cause, so maybe he thought it was real too 🤔).
The members were recruited by Applewhite.
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say they're all verified and true. It still doesn't matter.
You can say the same thing about Heaven's Gate. 40 people drank cyanide kool-aid so they could be reborn (saved) on a passing starship that the rest of humanity would miss.
@t_szumik@Naxalt_Revenge@aquavitae96 Ignoring that literally none of these remains can be actually verified as true, what does it matter?
People die for false beliefs all the time. The amount or manner in which people die for something is never an indication of it being true.
@pbcmike98@TharosProject@JordanJay078@needGod_net I don't understand the point you're trying to make.
I'm asking you a simple question- if Jeffrey Dahmer truly repented for his sins and accepted Jesus, was he saved?
What about his victims who didn't?
@t_szumik@aquavitae96 Jesus had plenty of opportunities to present much more convincing miracles. He could have appeared risen in front of the Roman senate, yet he only appeared back again to his apostles who already believed him.. weird. And none of THEM even wrote it down- all we have are 2nd hand.
@t_szumik@aquavitae96 There's not really any historical evidence behind all the apostles being martyred, that's church tradition.
But say they did- people die for cult leaders all the time. 40 people drank poisoned kool-aid to hop on a passing star ship with Marshall Applewhite just a few years ago.
@t_szumik@aquavitae96 I'm not denying the existence of Jesus, nor Alexander the Great. But for the same reason you'd disregard that Alexander ascended into heaven in a chariot, I disregard miraculous claims of Jesus' birth, death, that he rose people from the dead, or any other myths surrounding him.
@pbcmike98@TharosProject@JordanJay078@needGod_net Let's assume for the sake of this example that Jeff truly and whole heartedly repented.
According to Christian doctrine, he would be saved in heaven.
Also according to Christian doctrine, his non-believing victims would be in hell.
This is not a theology I can subscribe to.
@pbcmike98@TharosProject@JordanJay078@needGod_net Yes, I do believe that newborn babies are not guilty of anything.
You didn't answer my question, you just gave a long sermon. So I'll ask again- is Jeffrey Dahmer, a repented Christian, in heaven? And are his non-Christian victims in hell?
@Wisteria_big Most of the people in this thread who really believe we should be punished for eternity for a sin our most distance ancestors committed would probably crash out if they had to pay for slavery reparations.
