- robbed 4 ballon d'ors (lewandowski, sneijder, van dijk, and haaland)
- won a rigged world cup surrounded by biased officiating where your team received a record five penalties in a single tournament
- robbed the 2014 world cup golden ball
- received human growth hormone treatment, which gave you a long-term athletic advantage
- played for a club that paid millions to companies linked to negreira, the vice-president of spain's refereeing committee, during one of the most successful periods in its history
- benefited from controversial refereeing in major champions league ties, including chelsea (2009), real madrid (2011), and psg (2017) no name a few
“greatest of all time” my ass.
The plan was always clear to those with eyes and a brain. Exploit genuine problems that already exist in South African society, amplify and accentuate them, and undermine the South African government by working with political parties, pressure groups, and traditional leaders opposed to the government.
Find more pliable South Africans willing to assist in that project, and use those who are unsuspecting.
When the inevitable violence occurs, turn around and accuse South Africa of xenophobia because it would have happened.
Then question its moral standing in relation to its case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
Keep repeating the same question: How can a country that treats fellow Africans like this take Israel to the International Court of Justice?
After South Africa has been isolated from other African countries because of xenophobia, move into the next gear.
It then becomes much easier to make that argument because many African states will be reluctant to rally behind South Africa if xenophobic attacks continue.
That is why South Africa must confront xenophobia decisively; not only because it is morally wrong, but because it also weakens the country’s standing and influence across the African continent.
The more Israel keeps asking the same question. How can South Africa take us to the International Court of Justice when it treats fellow Africans like this? The more South Africa’s moral authority is challenged, particularly if it is unable to confront xenophobic violence effectively.
Unfortunately, there are already South Africans who are publicly supporting Israel because they conflate their opposition to the ANC with Israel’s opposition to the ANC, even though those positions are rooted in entirely different motivations.
In doing so, they risk advancing a narrative whose implications extend far beyond South Africa’s domestic politics.
Bill Nighy played Davy Jones, the octopus-faced villain in this film, wearing grey pajamas covered in white dots. The writhing beard, the slimy skin, the crab claw, none of it was there on set. He was rebuilt entirely inside a computer, using a method nobody had tried before.
Gore Verbinski, the director, wanted something difficult. He wanted real actors playing these sea monsters, looking each other in the eye, soaked by the same waves. Until then, you had to record an actor's movements alone in a sealed studio full of cameras, then draw the creature in afterward. So Industrial Light and Magic built a new system called Imocap. For the first time, they could capture a full performance outdoors, on a real set, in the middle of a normal day of shooting. Nighy acted every scene with the rest of the cast, then got erased and painted over by computer.
The painting over was relentless. Davy Jones has 46 tentacles where his beard should be, and each one was animated on its own so they curled and twitched with his mood instead of dangling. They were not allowed to pass through each other. Animators built more than 700 separate face positions so the character could copy Nighy's smallest expressions, a squint, a sneer. For the look of his clammy skin, they scanned a coffee-stained styrofoam cup. The sequel tripled the number of effects shots from the first film, from 324 to 979.
It fooled people. Critics and even rival effects artists assumed they were watching Nighy in a rubber mask. The work won the 2006 Academy Award for visual effects, the first time the studio had won it in twelve years.
The places in those frames were just as real, and just as punishing. Verbinski chose the island of Dominica because it still felt cut off from the world. The local government had never hosted a production this big. A crew of 500 ended up blocking about 90% of the island's roads, which were never built for that kind of traffic, while the weather swung between heavy tropical rain and heat that punished anyone stuck in period costume. The team built a cannibal village across two hillsides, lit a river with candles and lined it with treehouses, and built a stone church and a giant runaway water wheel from scratch.
All of it ran on $225 million, which made it the most expensive movie ever made at the time. The gamble landed. Dead Man's Chest became the first Disney film to pass a billion dollars, and only the third film in history to reach that mark, after Titanic and Lord of the Rings. The bragging would have been earned.
Romário directly asked Ronaldo Nazário about the viral quote claiming he called Lionel Messi the greatest of all time. 👀
Ronaldo (R9) : "I never said Messi is the best in history… We discovered it was a fabricated by the newspaper Mundo Deportivo in Barcelona. They published it with a photo of me and a fake quote, making it seem like it came from me!" ❌📰
Another Messi PR exposed!
