👍Do not betray your faith in Europe: Zelensky addressed the EU leaders

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, addressed the 27 EU leaders participating in the summit in Brussels via video link, at which, in particular, a decision may be made on the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

"It is very important that Europe does not fall into indecision today. Nobody wants Europe to be seen as unworthy. Or as incapable of making decisions that it has prepared itself," the head of state said.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has completed its homework from the EU, adopted laws, thereby fulfilling the recommendations of the European Commission.

​"People in Europe will not see any benefit if Moscow gets a pass from Brussels in the form of negativity towards Ukraine. Putin will surely use this against you personally and against all of Europe. Don't give him this first - and only - victory of the year. Europe must win, agreements must be followed, and words must have meaning," the president emphasized.

Zelenskyi also recalled that during the Revolution of Dignity, Ukrainians marched to the center of Kyiv under the flags of the European Union.

"10 years ago, people in Ukraine rose up under the flags of the European Union... I ask you one thing today - do not betray the people and their faith in Europe. If no one believes in Europe, what will keep the European Union alive?" - he added.
