@SamuraiShibaJP My nickname is Sherry. Makes sense as a regular name but there is a story behind it. My older sister was trying to call me “cherry pie” from a commercial when I was age 2. It came out “Sherry.” My entire family calls me Sherry to this day and I’m almost 60.
Renato Moicano recalls being completely caught off guard by Dan Miragliotta's decision to stand him up:
“I was thinking, 'What the f*** is going on?' I was shocked. I was surprised, but then I thought, ok, focus on the fight. Don't let this distract you.
I think it's fair to say [it affected me]. But I don't have anything to complain about Tom Nolan. He did nothing wrong. He beat me fair and square. It's not his fault the referee made a mistake.
He took advantage of the opportunity. He was the better striker on the night.
Imagine if the referee kept the position. Even though I wasn't hurting him, I was trying to finish him. I was trying to advance.
I would have spent the whole second round on his back, and I would have won the round.
Instead, when he broke up the fight, I got caught, lost the round, and went into the third round hurt and frustrated.
I think it was a bad mistake by the referee, but I cannot take credit away from Tom Nolan. He's good, and that's not his problem.”
Two truths:
1. Dan Mirg botched that call with the atrocious stand up. He should be suspended and or fired, and investigated.
2. Moicano couldn’t sub Nolan while fresh. He was starting to gas out. It was going downhill for him regardless.
Props to Moicano for being a classy sportsman after the fact regarding the result.
The more I think about this and the more I see people actually defending the decision to stand Moicano up when he had Nolan's back, the more I realise how much MMA has changed since I started watching and being a fan.
Don't get me wrong, I love a filthy knockout as much as the next man, but I also enjoy elite level grappling and a tasty submission here and there too.
The back take is one of the most dominant positions you can be in on the ground, next only to full mount, it's a skill to even get there and an even bigger skill to get out of it. it has genuinely baffled me that it was taken away by the referee.
Mad to think that the UFC began by a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt absolutely dominating everyone. Now it looks like it's no longer an MMA organisation, it's kickboxing with a bit of grappling thrown in, if they're allowed.. and I hate to finally admit it.. it's turning into WWE 😔
.@moicanoufc won't appeal his #UFCVegas123 loss to Tom Nolan, but has a message for referee Dan Miragliotta:
"I want him to go f*ck himself, him and everyone else. I don’t give a shit."

@ryzla_hq@SynixPG Bro takes 1 rule out of context. Considering he had his back and threw 55 strikes in that position and was consistently trying to get his hands in and hand fighting was ongoing on, that's called action and also part of the rule set. All you did was cherry pick 1 specific detail.
@BCampbell Better than my entire life being an L. Go get a real job and maybe get off of Twitter for 10 minutes. Try actually being a father for once, Mr 'L take'.
