@MrTonyMan@Steven_Swinford By "free loaders", presumably you mean the people who get something for free as opposed to the people paying into a state system they aren't using?
@TallyHoToff@bphillipsonMP Soon to be 9k + VAT, that is... Uni tuition fees benefit from precisely the same "tax break" Labour will remove for private schools. So there's no rational reason why Unis should remain VAT exempt.
@bphillipsonMP Repairing state education "properly" is a huge undertaking requiring a massive injection of cash. Attempting to put that entire bill on the shoulders of a (comparatively small) set of parents who have an "easy" option to avoid it is bonkers.
Great vision + stupid funding = ?
@MrChips736075 @bphillipsonMP I'm not sure it's correct to say "no other country taxes education". Greece did exactly this in 2015 and it was a complete and utter disaster.
The warning signs are in plain sight, but it seems Labour either aren't listening or don't care.

@TfL When are you going to tackle fare dodging on overland trains? Just got off a train and watched 3 out of the 5 people in front of me walk out without tapping. Not a group -- individuals who clearly planned it.
Are you really losing 60% of the fares owed?
@TfL Elephant & Castle rail (not underground) around 7am. Reporting it as a point-in-time incident feels silly as it happens all the time; it's systemic. All you need to do is go there and compare the number of people to 'beeps'....
@ASUS Here's a picture of me replacing the screen on my Zenbook "Deluxe" for the 2nd time in 3 years.
Want to take a guess whether my next laptop will be an ASUS?
Seeing more posts, blogs & tweets about real-world microservices pain.
Seems we think hard about backwards compatibility and deprecation in public APIs, but cut corners internally.
So if you find yourself having 'all or none' internal microservices releases, that may be why.
Today's panel on AI was terrifying.
Yes, there's a risk AI will take loads of jobs and skew elections.
Most terrifying was watching senators prioritise jokes about whose state produced the best singer and cutting experts off after just a couple of words ... instead of listening
Breathtaking naivety from @LabourParty here to suggest private schools will absorb VAT instead of passing it on.
Tax laws are laws. ANY business that is told they must charge VAT on their product or service will add full VAT without thinking.
Suggesting anything else is stupid.
Kudos to @LondonMarathon for adding a carbon levy to the international entrant fee.
Nobody should be barred from entry (of course) but the levy reminds us all of the environmental cost of traveling for the race.
Been using Github co-pilot (linked to OpenAI) for months now. Loving the powerful auto-complete function to help me code.
Today, however, it stopped being helpful and started throwing me shade instead 👇
I now realise the AI-doom mongers are 100% correct
