In 2018, Shinnecock gusted 30 mph, and the course nearly came apart. 
If we see it again this year, here’s the same driver swing in three winds: 
🟠 Into 30 mph: 233 yds
⚪ Calm: 317 yds
🔵 Downwind 30 mph: 395 yds
That’s a **162-yard** difference on one swing. The wind could be a big storyline this week.

Shinnecock’s 2nd, into a 20-mph wind: even a 3-wood comes up short for most pros. 
The same hole, downwind: a 4-iron could fly past the flag. 
One hole. From 3-wood to 4-iron, depending on which way the flag is blowing.

@Ian6249 When we've done grip testing, if you go larger grip size to midsize and swing weight stays constant (D3), we would expect to see a right-bias for a right-handed golfer. Unfortunately not sure why you would be seeing a left bias.

PING Co-Pilot got a major G440 upgrade today....here's a look at a few new features....🧵

1) Stopping Power: Many fitters and golfers aren't sure how their launch/spin and land angle stack up and if they should go Power or Retro spec. Problem solved.

Gapping App shows where you stand compared to like ball speed players, makes recommendations if you should use Power or Retro spec, and the longest iron you should play...the perfect pairing to our AFS3D fitting head.

@DataGolf @jimi_index @Ehenrik @paulwood79 For -10 attack angle, 50 delivered loft (60 spin loft), a LW will launch ~2/3rds towards the face with ~30 degree launch angle. The exact percentage depends on how clean your contact is / friction at impact.

Cliff notes is path, face angle and friction are the biggest variables, CHS does not matter.

The rules are roughly 85%, 75%, 70% for Dr, 7i and PW launch percentage towards the face. i.e. 10 FA, 0 CP, HL is 8.5 w/ Dr

A big goal for 2024 was to improve my driving accuracy

In practice, I historically hit 37% of 40-yard wide fairways.

After 130 sessions and 7,243 drives, my accuracy jumped up over 15% to nearly 55% fairways hit

This is cherry-picked to look at a good vs. bad 100-shot sample, but the before and after difference in driver performance is dramatic.

+11 yards carry
+28% fairways hit (63% vs. 35%)
-24% shots over 40 yards offline (11% vs. 35%)

I also wanted to maintain a high carry distance – these were meant to be “gamer” on course swings, not fairway finder swings.

Overall, my average ball speed increased by nearly 4 mph and my average carry distance increased by around 10 yards
