@DataGolf do you have an analysis on the distribution of approach shot distances over time?
With all the roll back debate, curious if the distribution of approach shots has changed for average tour events, and how those compare to ANGC. Top 10 vs top 100 players?
Not showing up yet in the UR if you look specifically at college graduates 20-24 years old.
It feel inevitable for sure! But it’s not in the numbers yet.
To be clear, some media are genuinely fantastic and do add a lot of value for the player/players at large.
Many, however, absolutely do not add more than they take.
I wish golf media would ask themselves the following question and earnestly try to answer it:
“What value do I bring to this player interaction, and is that more or less than the value I get from this interaction?”
I think players skipping media will make more sense to you.
Goodness this is a profoundly bad take.
Proposing others use a massive waste of resources to prevent something that is a non-issue.
But don’t worry dear reader, none of the inconvenience of this proposal would burden the guy actually suggesting it.
there should a draft of 30-34 year old men and women who get paid 200k a year or more except they have to serve as civil servants in their state, local, or national goverments
@E0M Asked o3 to generate 10 questions that I should be asking but am probably overlooking… extremely underwhelmed.
So yeah, for now at least generating good questions is still a bottleneck. Completely agree.
Great question, terrible answers.
TFP is an econometric exercise and relies on imperfect measures like output and human capital.
Here's o3 breaking down some potential explanations, and how they would mechanically show up in the estimates:

@SteveHelwagen@ANTIFAldo 25 years is probably aggressive, but yeah still some good newer courses out there. Erin hills, Brandon, Sand hill (30 years), etc. I’m sure there are others.
@ANTIFAldo I’ve said it before - they should only go to courses less than 25 years old.
Basically stake a flag in it before the US Open is willing to. Showcase the best new venues in the US.
@mcelvy@jtedscott@PGATOUR@ColtKnost@chambleebrandel Per USGA, little known rule 4.3 subsection C limits the total volume of facial hair per player.
Many interpretations of the rule consider the player to be the player plus caddy team.
The more you know!
@MidwestGolfJake This amounts to a causal inference problem where you are violating the “random assignment to the treated group” assumption.
If they weren’t so loud it’s be a forgivable mistake.
Over the last 40 years, 16 players have held an outright 54-hole lead 10+ times on the PGA Tour.
