V10's agreement is post-theatrical.

"V10 Entertainment serves as the exclusive global distributor handling the sales of the Pay-1 window and downstream rights (shopping the movie to streaming platforms, TV broadcasters, and digital home video markets). They act as a distribution sales agent rather than keeping all non-U.S. profits."

The $20 million deal is separate from this. According to Google, which can be wrong, it's a downside agreement. Meaning Ketchup makes at least $20 million. If the owners (Kinology) make more than the downside, it turns to profit sharing after that. This is AFTER the theaters take their share, so they would need to make about $40 million in gross Box Office revenue.

Right, PVOD, sales and streaming is where the profit will be for Ketchup. At best, they're looking to breakeven theatrically, once you subtract the theater's take.

Here's my take:

Ketchup's Budget is $50 million plus another $10 million in marketing. $60 million total.

Today it sits at $41.5 domestic and growing.

Internationally it still sits below that $20 million mark at $14.1 million. This is before the theater's take their portion. If it goes above $20 million in profit (after the theaters take their portion), per AI (just being honest of the source), they'll see profit sharing above that amount.

Many major markets are still in play:
Spain (9/18)
Australia (9/17)
China HAS a deal if it can clear their censorship.
It can still release in Japan and South Korea, although no partnerships exist yet.

Theaters keep about 40% of ticket revenue, but we'll say 50% to be nice.

At 50%, Ketchup has secured:
$20.7 million from the US and Canada, plus $20 million from it's international deal. Both of these numbers will grow.

Right now $60 million minus $40.7 million=$19.3 million remaining.

Streaming rights alone are estimated to be $10 to $20 million, plus several more million in PVOD plus physical and digital sales.

If Ketchup can grab $10 more million in the US/Canada market (roughly another $20 million in box office revenue), it's well positioned to see profitability from sales/PVOD. They stand to make more, too, this is pessimistic, I think.

The gap that they need is closing. The more they make back now, the sooner the film will end up in the green for them.

For WB, at $70 million plus a likely larger marketing budget, it was likely to be in the red in the end. Still, well north of that $30 million write-off that they tried to take.

JUST IN: Six Flags has acquired ArieForce One from Fun Spot Atlanta. The Rocky Mountain Construction roller coaster will be moved to one of the parks in the Six Flags portfolio sometime in the 2028 or 2029 season.

Six Flags says they are “actively considering multiple parks across our portfolio” to be the new home of the ride. More:

“ArieForce One is a world-class coaster, and we want to ensure it lands in the park where it can deliver the best possible guest experience. We're carefully evaluating its fit across our portfolio before announcing its future home.”

Six Flags added that they plan to honor the coaster’s history by keeping the name ArieForce One, and they will plan to announce its new home by the end of this year. They declined to disclose the terms of the purchase or how much it will cost to move the ride to its new location.

Even if they guessed right on this, it would have a chance for profitability over the long term, since not all profit is theatrical. Moreso than Supergirl, at least.

The bigger thing is had Warner kept it, spent another $30 million marketing it, and it still pulled these numbers, it wouldn't come close to their biggest loss this year.
