For passive heat and moisture exchangers (HME) used in most ventilator circuits, it reduces aerolized medication by 35-90%. So if need to give albuterol give it before the HME. #anesthesia #medED

1 bag of platelet is either a pool of 5-6 single donor units, or an "apheresis" unit from single donor containing ~200-250 cc of plasma. Both of these will raise plt count by approx. 30 x 10^3/ul in an avg adult pt.

In patients with severe pulmonary HTN, be very careful about period of induction and apnea. I usually give paralytics on induction and take over ventilation ASAP to minimize hypercarbia. #anesthesiology #meded
