@dhh I've just ordered a Dell XPS 13", loving computers feeling fun like Amiga's again. The problem is mobile integration, Apple has spoiled us. The only real stumbling block is RCS. Can't build a bridge app, carriers won't let you. Ironically in the EU with iOS you can. I'm in UK.
@brandur It needs the mobile, Android I guess, integration. I need to retire then I’ll have time to do it. Until then can’t switch, daft to lose all the little niceties
@sudo_goreng The thing that keeps me with Apple as a daily is the hardware / software ecosystem and integration. We need a realistic alternative to iPhones which integrate amazingly with Linux. Maybe when I retire I'll have time, but so many little touches to reproduce if going to compete
@Lonbaker@onusoz Believe me, would love to do it, can’t bring myself to it yet though. Maybe when I retire (ha) and can spend time writing all the missing bits
@Lonbaker@onusoz So close to doing this. Have the hardware. How did you replace the ecosystem though? It all works together too nicely to give up, I want to though
@dhh You need to put this much love into cross device ecosystem. I’ll help, but need phone manufactures onboard too. Apple needs competition. Samsung / Windows doesn’t count
@dhh We need to reinvent thin client. Apps run anywhere. Apps on your phone get faster when on the same network as a chunky desktop using the same user ID. Everything intelligently synced. Mobile device integration is what stops me from putting time into it. Need open devices
