@neilcybart@tomfgoodwin The Rivian owners I know are very happy, but Rivian is taking forever to launch their cheaper models. I would’ve been in the market for an R2 or R3 a month ago when I was shopping but it hasn’t launched yet, and there’s still no clear launch date.
@McReynoldsJoe@HeerJeet Correct. The issue with bashing the system all the time is that often those that do have no real solutions. Governance is hard and there's a lot of activists who want to reform the system, yet they can't even reform their own lives 😂. Why should we want them in power?
Quincy was, yes, one of the greatest and most influential composers and producers of... well ever. But he was also a living cultural repository. The stories this man carried within him. The things he'd seen. I truly do not think there is ANYONE left who was in *all* the same rooms, or witnessed *all* the same moments, as he did. Not even close.
Conservatives often talk about “luxury beliefs.” One such belief is when tech elites tell you that college doesn’t matter, while VCs and FAANG seek out Ivy League and MIT/Caltech grads for their ventures.
Elon Musk admits that he and Trump will crash the economy, but it’s okay, because they’ll build a better world from the rubble. Not exaggerating, he just said it.
@IfIWasDaKing@DeleEribo@matthewstoller This makes sense, but how come the GOP gets 0 blame for being complicit and cheering this on? Why all the backlash on the Dems?
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis We’ve had a few really effective reps. Katie Porter comes to mind. AOC another. But you’re right, wealthy people are overrepresented in govt in general.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis 🙏 thank you for sharing your experiences and insights. I’m glad that you’ve been able to make a life for yourself, and it’s terrible that in a country as rich as ours we still have so many at the margins. I’m saying this as someone who also came from the margins myself.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis Absolutely this. I think that’s also a big part of it.
Discussing class is something that’s still relatively taboo in America.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis Interesting.
The GOP, if anything, has certainly been able to play on the rage while the rest of us are dumbfounded as to how they could be so angry. We’re talking past each other.
I hope that if Harris wins, her admin can help open up this dialogue more.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis Makes sense. I’ll be honest it’s challenging to unpack for someone like myself. I guess there’s little sympathy for the (perceived) kings. But it makes sense. I’ve been through some of these areas around the country so I can totally see how someone could be angry in general.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis This is true.
However aren’t Dems politically the only party trying to deal with making life for people better?
But maybe it’s hard to see if you’re angry?
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis Interesting. Thank you for the insight. Admittedly this is a blind spot for me and I am not really exposed to these groups.
But it’s interesting after 45 won in 2016 a colleague opened up to be that he felt “it’s OK to be white again” and I was baffled.
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis Admittedly I have a blind spot for these types. I largely am not exposed to them.
Why don’t they think, like everyone else is taught(?), that if you work hard and follow the rules you can be successful?
@ProfHWalsh @JSCram3254 @MikeNellis I see what you’re saying, sorta but I don’t know if I completely agree.
As a minority we often see it as the mainstream is THEIR space, so we had to create our own because we weren’t welcome.
SWM have always had their spaces. Bars, country clubs, hunting, business, etc.
