@KieranWarwick You’re building hype, 8 months is a long time. How hard is it to make a monthly Battlepass with nothing but fuel rewards? Let new people have something to latch into and build fuel for the launch.
2 min rebuttal (I did read your thesis)
“Catch & FUSE them all. Build your perfect illuvial collection”
Free version:
Overworld tier 0,
Ranked arena for casual play & fuel rewards.
Zero Tier 0 land is free
Fusion should added to land & available for tier 0 illuvials.
Forge should be added to land to build tier 0 weapons.
Apothecary should be added to land for potions.
Optional purchase:
Illuvitars and ownership of decks “help increase odds of catching overworld illuvials” E.G Own 5 Rhampyre illuvitars, add 5% chance of catching or some iteration.
Marketplace:
Illuvial selling for ETH continues on marketplace indefinitely.
Land ownership for ETH.
Weapons and upgrades for ETH.
Tiered Shards are purchased for ETH.
Skins & essences are purchased for ETH.
Battlepass Subscription Pricing Model:
$9.99/inflation adjusted monthly battle pass or 1000 fuel for access to tier 1. $19.99 for tier 2 and below, $29.99 for tier 3 and below. $49.99 for all access pass that grants massive fuel/skins/crates/exclusives/speed boost etc.
Basic Battlepass rewards will grant 1000 fuel after 20 hours of play…hence $9.99 could be the only pay you ever need if you consistently play. (Skins, weapons, illuvitars are separate optional purchases)
Advanced passes will add similar fuel bonuses to pay for itself with enough play. Stop playing for a while? Pay again to join when the new event starts.
Obelisk Rising:
Catch the “perfect illuvial” fuse it to 100. That is the difference maker and the “destruction factor”. Fuse all non-essentials. You caught”Bob” in level 1. Bob turns into BobTank 5000 but is still Bob.
Want to catch a Stage 3 tier 5? You need collaboration and higher tools. You need friends. You need a team/clan. You need experience. Want to skip and own bobtank 5000 to progress faster, buy him on marketplace win easier, “cheat”.
Hunters:
Some players want to hunt illuvials and not upgrade anything. They will pay whatever is necessary to hunt the highest challenge. Let them purchase those items from those that like creating things in game or own land to forge them.
Gathers:
Some players want to explore and gather and forge weapons. Let both worlds exist allowing trade within the ecosystem. Trade high level illuvial for stage 3 weapons and essences.
Land:
Land will be the fusion stations and the forges . Players will pay fuel to landholders (at the land map location in game.) exploring Taiga, you just passed over JohnQ public’s blacksmith shop and fuse station complete with personalize storefront.
Wait in queue to fuse a tier 1 illuvial at a tier 1 land, travel to another parcel because fusing takes time and isn’t unlimited. Own the land, no wait. Tier specific illuvial fusing.
Agreements:
1.) The gameplay should be paramount and nostalgic.
2.) Pricing should be smaller and more frequent.
Disagreement:
1. Illuvial trading for ETH gives the game the ultimate thrill.
Need a high level illuvial to help win a tournament break through a cave? Buy it or take the time to fuse it.
Got lucky and caught a high level illuvial and already have a higher one, sell to someone else.
2. Illuvitars packs and crates can become trophies for in game conquests. Non-transferable illuvitar trophy’s can exist to show off your travels and conquests.
3. Land should share in revenue & fuel purchases, and should have practical purpose for overworld and beyond.
Fusion, blacksmiths, potions are land specific and time constraining. 24 hours to fuse? 5 days to fuse a rhampyre? 2 hours to upgrade your sword.
4. Fuel
Fuel needs to be paid at the land location. Landowners share revenue but high traffic land gets a better bonus. Events can spread illuvial hunts into different t territories and even small landholders on outskirts can have a windfall during an event.
Landowners get paid in fuel. Fuel can buy illuvitars, battle passes, skins, sellable items, shards, the land can be bought and sold for ETH.
We both want the same thing, long term game success.
A raven can go back in time? Why not have the raven be the reason the “mad king” went mad? He was interacting with a raven from the future? Had to fill the entire city with dragon breath fuel? Final battle becomes ice horses descend upon the city, fuel blows the entire army all set up by time travel.
@Kekius_Sage We’re talking and paying attention…”going to the moon” and orbiting the moon are two different things though. We’re orbiting the moon. Yes. Interesting. Fairly simple compared to, we’re landing on the moon to build a city/state.
@chamath@firstadopter Glad to hear it! Hope to see it! Speak more about it on All-in future podcasts.
Prayers for you to find more joy from doing non-ROI projects but lasting legacy programs that better society and cement your spot in history!
When are you going to pivot from ROI to helping humanity? You’ve won the $ game and continue to boast of your investment excellence. Are you going to make operational excellence in government? Worldwide cost of food reduction with excellencent robotic food delivery? To what use is all of your wealth Chamath? I love the all in podcast and your group is great at current topics; I’d love to see your depth of character focus on tackling a true ROI of human necessity instead of capital return for yourself.
