@chaykak scaled publishers with โuniqueโ datasets are seemingly in a much better position. But the uniqueness tends to feel a lot more like platforms with UGC (Reddit, stack) than editorial pubs (nyt, wsj)
@chaykak with SEO / robots.txt, the incentives for publishers were much more clear. optimize for search (enable crawlers), increase page views and ad revenue as a result of search traffic.
@doyouknowchamp it a tough name/brand for the bank in this context too, versus say โSmall Business Bankโ or โFast Growing Young Companies across the Country Bankโ
@RuncieDan I have to think the biggest one is looming in the not-to-distant future: synthetic / generative (AI) music creation. touches everything from IP/copyright to commoditization to further reducing usersโ willingness to pay for music.
@girdley primarily services businesses where the value is in the client relationships and key employees (versus say a higher multiple company with a advantages in scaling, distrbution, network effects, automation, etc)
Apple is crushing the ad businesses of a bunch of its biggest competitors while simultaneously spinning up its own massive ad business, and the takeaway most people have is, โApple really cares about my privacy.โ
Incredible work from their marketing and PR teams.
@mimi_aboubaker@1sprintatatime@kimmytaylor@luke_metro zero ROI is not what Iโm suggesting. (1) product development and (2) distribution are certainly forms of ROI. when executed properly, these boost existing sales efforts or enable new revenue streams altogether. money changing hands is not always an initial requirement for 1 & 2
@1sprintatatime@kimmytaylor@luke_metro sales to me is where on side of the โpartnershipโ gets money in exchange for the sellers product or service.
BD is (or used to be) something different: product development through partnership, marketing through distribution.
