This systematic review and meta-analysis finds that heavy strength training is likely to improve cyclist performance through improved cycling efficiency and anaerobic power, supporting the notion that the interaction of V̇O2max, maximal metabolic steady state, non-oxidative energy contribution, and cycling efficiency determines endurance performance.
