It's nice to see fair being used in the wild for novel climate attribution studies: "Half of anthropogenic warming now caused by fossil fuels" by Tarshish et al. preprint: https://t.co/dRvoknMXBm
Can all of the modelling groups who have run experiments looking at the IMO 2020 sulphur phase out in maritime fuel please come together and create... ShipMIP?
Thankfully, this is not at all consistent with numerous other constraints on climate sensitivity. These suggest 2-4 degC of global warming for doubling CO2, which is more than enough to worry about.
CO2 storage faces geological, geographical, and techno-economic limitations. This new feasibility study identifies a global benchmark of 5-6 GtCO2yr in 2050. Most IAMs do not take these constraints into account (see upper bounds of storage rates below) https://t.co/AQD4uWCwNH
"You should never rely on the output of any single model. If you want to make sensible policy decisions, you need to use the insights from a range of models, but also from other approaches (history, geography, social psychology, & more)" @DimitriZ

Another paper in our Frontiers for Young Minds (science for kids, peer-reviewed by kids) special issue:
Impacts of Climate Change, by Adelle Thomas and William W. L. Cheung: https://t.co/8uBS0o7kCR
If you use my book, Intro to Modern Climate Change, I've created a google group for it: https://t.co/WxgCumtRwv
I will send out updates to the book to this list. I expect to send very few messages to the list, perhaps a few per year.
We have a 3-year postdoc position at CSIRO (Australia) to work on Remote sensing biomass and carbon budgets.
Deadline for job application: 2 September 2024, 11:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time.
