@TedAtchley3@JakeDoberenz Harold Ockenga and Billy Graham were using Neo-evangelical or “New Evangelicalism” in the 1940s. It’s been around. Citation from “The Surprising Work of God” by Garth Rosell pg 13. It’s been around.
One of the neighbors in my apartment complex now has 4 propane tanks outside our building in two different places. He also frequently drops heavy things on the floor (maybe propane?). Any thoughts what he’s up to?
@MarkShe74555419 Living on the road is a hard life and, from what I’ve witnessed, terrible for mental health. I live in a town where drifters pass through all of the time, I do long hikes frequented by them. It seems like a romantic lifestyle at first but is tragic in its outcomes.
Has anyone done a study on the negative mental effects of Jack Kerouac’s philosophy? I’d also like to know the toll he’s put on those who try to solve homelessness. So many drifters I’ve met have been influenced my him.
Help me, Internet. There was a press conference where Sec of State John Kerry was asked if he’d asked another country (Lebanon? Iran?) what they even wanted in a time of international tension. He hadn’t, but it caused him to do that and it calmed things. What was that? Remember?
Why do so many Christian resources tie their discontent to the Enlightenment? Is it because that’s as far as they care to look back in history? I don’t think they realize how brutal and unjust the world was before the Enlightenment. I’m deeply confused.
Obviously the bullies need access to education too. But in the absence of real consequences for bullies then victims will feel there is no justice and that is a dangerous feeling.
In all of the talk about school shootings, I hope we can eventually come around to the issue of bullying. So many shooters are victims of bullying. We as educators can do so little to bullies. We can’t remove them from classes or buses, but we should.
One of the crushing feelings that bullied kids have is that teachers and staff don’t care, or that their bullying situation can’t be stopped. We need to come up with options that truly make kids feel safe from bullies, which means we need to separate out bullies somehow.
