Trans kids in sports should be a nonissue.
Total trans athletes per state are in the single digits in 2/3 of states, and the majority of these kids aren’t in contact sports.
Meanwhile, an average of 12 kids die from a firearm injury and 32 more survive a gunshot wound DAILY.

Scaling CVI to match the scope of the problem, like we've done with other public health crises (smoking, car crashes, etc.), requires evidence informed practices that are replicable, feasible & sustainable.
Proud of @MedUnivSC Turning the Tide VIP's contributions to this work.
Pediatrician here.
If a nice, older kid/teenager comes trick or treating at your place, give them a piece of candy WITHOUT giving them a hard time. In fact, give them 2.
They chose this over other risky activities. Validate that.

This moment is all about political courage, and who among us has enough of it to stand up for what’s kind, and loving, and hopeful. Love always wins. We’re going to win.
Nancy Mace:
🚩celebrated Dobbs
🚩co-authored SC’s 6 abortion ban
🚩co-sponsored MTG’s fetal personhood
🚩dismisses Trump’s sexual assault liability
🚩voted against the VAWA
🚩sent staffers to mock SC women discussing abortion care
@NancyMace is full of 💩!
@MUSChealth Ashley Hink, M.D., MPH, Med. Dir. of the MUSC Violence Intervention Program, explains how addressing gun violence as a public health issue mitigates the causes & risks factors in a video from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education.
Hospital-based violence intervention programs like Turning the Tide use the public health approach to support victims of community gun violence. Research is critically needed to build this evidence base, especially in the Southeast. When we know better, we can do better.
“Gun violence is no different than a lot of other public health problems - we know its causes and risk factors, and there are ways to mitigate all of these things.”

"In a workplace where teams are devoted to caring for others, this incident is devastating to our staff, and is a reminder of the tragic, far-reaching toll of gun violence on entire communities."
#UPDATE There is sadness and disbelief outside Philly’s Presbyterian Medical Center after a Jeep struck several nurses as they worked to treat a shooting victim who had just been dropped off. NBC10’s @NeilFischerTV has a new statement from the hospital. https://t.co/vCT4iI4brf
One of the highlights of my professional year is convening with fellow @Everytown CSF grantees from across the country. Powerful speakers that simultaneously ground us in the work while uplifting & elevating the field to new heights.
Investing in community-led violence intervention is critical to combating gun violence. This week, we joined over 60 of our Community Safety Fund grantees from 47 cities ahead of the 11th annual @CitiesUnited convening in Seattle to learn from each other and share best practices that save lives.
Update: The voter registration deadline for the elections scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5 has been extended.

Good Morning SC. I hope everyone is safe and listened to the weather alerts last night. As a reminder Trump's project 2025 plans to eliminate NWS and would make you pay a monthly fee to a private company if you want weather data.

And it happened again. Another child has died.
We had a safe storage bill introduced in the last legislative session in SC.
It didn't even get a hearing.
We failed this child. Let's not fail the next one.
