@ericn131@British_Airways Well when complaining on X seemed like the only way to try and contact them it seemed like them best way. Shouting into the void of social media also seemed to alleviate some stress..
8 days after my nightmare holiday began with @British_Airways not loading luggage my case is finally en route to my house with a courier. Given the courier’s online chat is disabled because of too many queries due to the BA meltdown and I’m in Egypt, not sure how this will work
@JJ_brum@British_Airways I tried to contact via live chat on the site but was disabled with a note to say they are overwhelmed due to amount of work the BA meltdown is causing them. They suggested to email. I expect it will be difficult to get it back to LHR and dispatched to your parents now though
@JJ_brum@British_Airways I asked for it after 3 days when I was moving on from Cairo and thought the chance of the case getting to me before the end of the hol was slim. Despite that they still sent it to CAI and back twice before dispatching it for home delivery
And if they don’t release it to my neighbour, how I’ll go about getting it re-delivered in a time frame that works for me is a mystery. I suppose I should be thankful @British_Airways didn’t just send it back to Cairo for the third time
Thankfully a very nice neighbour is in and is keeping an eye out for a knock at the door. Obviously I haven’t been able to update the delivery instructions becuase their chat is down, so whether or not they’ll release the bag to him remains unknown
This tweet/X has aged very well. According to my inside source it never left Cairo and was never going to be put on a flight to Sharm. They put it on a flight straight back to London! Yet the baggage portal gave me an Egyptair flight no to Sharm. How can they get things so wrong?
Have decided against wasting my evening and money to go to Sharm airport to try to intercept my bag 1) @British_Airways team may be wrong, it may not actually have left LHR 2) it might not get put on the flight @British_Airways claim - took 5 days to get to Cairo after all!
Couldn’t resist contacting @britishairways live chat tonight - must be 20th time this week. Bag now allegedly with courier in London. Website not working though so can’t track. Told to look out for an email. Only had 1 since this fiasco started last Fri so won’t hold my breath
Day 6 since I last saw my bag when @British_Airways failed to load at T5. I’m now led to believe it was flown to Cairo for a second time yesterday and was due to be put on a flight to Sharm straight after. Instead, it seems they’ve flown it back to LHR again 🤦♂️
@dcms1000 Based on my experience there is absolutely no communication or any joined up messaging between any BA systems. It’s amazing to me that these kind of meltdowns don’t happen on a regular basis given what a samples their operations seem to be. Sheer luck, I suppose
@dcms1000 Oh dear. So it may just keep shuttling between London and Cairo forever?! What I kind understand is how customer service can say it’s in one place but my friend on the inside sees it somewhere else. And why my instructions to send it home seem to be overlooked
So are @British_Airways just going to keep flying my back in between London and Cairo for eternity?! Is this and IT issue or just gross employee incompetence. I physically cannot understand how this could happen given all the contact I’ve had with customer service
@SteveBa99880334@British_Airways You’ll be lucky if it’s home by the time you get there! If it’s anything like mine they might send it to Spain anyway!
@dcms1000 Not as far as I’m away but surely that couldn’t be causing the issue? It’s got a tag on it from when I checked it in for my flight to Cairo and I’ve logged a baggage report with the corresponding baggage number and my booking reference. Surely that should be enough?
It’s been confirmed from my source - my bag is back in LHR. It was never on/going to be on a flight to Sharm. Whether or not it’ll be back in Cairo by tomorrow afternoon only @British_Airways can say
@wildandhigh@British_Airways If only! That’a the only way I’d hit silver this year under the new system. (Another reason to move away from @British_Airways ). If things continue this way they are I’d probably hit gold guest list if my bag did accrue avios
So I’ve had some insider info from @British_Airways and it turns out my bag, that I’d expressly asked not to be sent to Cairo and just couriered to my home address, has instead spent the last 2 days flying between LHR and CAI - you just couldn’t make this up!
