@wesbos What bothers me about defining "AI Slop", is that these patterns come from actual designers and developers who have successfully implemented them as exceptional UX/UI for years. It's a bit frustrating that we have to change our methods now because AI has stolen them from us. 🤔
Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw.
You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.
After a suspicious leak of upcoming features from Claude Code, we've learned that "proactive mode" is coming where Claude will literally just do work for you 24/7. Even work you didn't ask for. The question is how much technical debt will you go into to accomodate this new "employee"?
It's time to learn about "Zero Trust". Nothing is trusted by default, and this may be what it takes to keep your data safe in this new age of AI. Do some research and decide for yourself.
@allgarbled We've used these for years. Remember, vibe coding took the best of what we (actual software engineers) have been doing for years. I call it delightful UX/UI! 🙃
Given how much antipathy there is toward AI right now, should we at least slow things down a bit? I use AI every day, so I’m conflicted, but I understand the sentiment. 🤔
The future is already here. It just hasn't knocked on your door yet. If you'd like to understand more about how it may affect you, this is a good read. https://t.co/VYhzqITDQ8
A new Harvard Business Review research found that AI tools at a U.S. tech company didn't lighten employee workloads over 8 months, but actually grew them, with workers taking on broader tasks, logging more hours, and multitasking more. This isn't the case for me, but this was an interesting outcome.
Hallucinations sound considerably worse than errors. An error implies a miscalculation. A hallucination implies being disconnected from reality itself. 🤔
@steipete As someone who ships software "as a favor" somtimes, I completely understand. I for one am very grateful for the work you've done. I love it and I use it everyday. So, thank you. Just Thank You! 😊
I never post about political things and I've been a proud conservative republican my entire life. I was in favor of the deportation of criminals. After what I've seen these past few weeks, I will vote for a democrat for the first time, in the midterm elections because we need to get the current administration out! We have to do something now! Minnesota is the canary in the coal mine, and I can't support this. Please look into what's happening for yourself. #AbolishICE
What IS the future of jobs? Every month brings news of AI conquering tests or tasks that used to require years of training. Even traditional strongholds like medicine, law, and software engineering are at risk. For younger generations, the math is changing quickly: why work hard for a career that might not exist in 10 years?
