I was quite overwhelmed by the wonderful surprise the staff @church_prim gave me yesterday- thank you so much, I feel lucky & humbled to work with such amazing staff & children in a great #community#allerton#wellbeing Thank you😄 #proudheadteacher
@ICT_MrP 🧵 5.
While I recognise the value of sporting competition as a former dedicated inclusive PE enthusiast, I am eagerly awaiting the day in which schools can access 💴 and HQ support to co-design PA provision for targeted pupils based on their circumstances/lived experiences 🙏🏻
@ICT_MrP 🧵 4. In a 15 year teaching career the School Games programme was always a challenge… capacity/cost/curriculum - made it impossible to ensure all pupils had equal access to the opportunities being offered (which were largely traditional and often pathways)
@ICT_MrP 🧵 3. Increasing access/ & the improving the experience for pupils in PE and SS is crucial… increasing positive early experiences of a broad range of opportunities to be physically active is just as crucial… if we want children to find meaning, value and enjoyment in PE, SS, PA
@ICT_MrP 🧵 2. Perhaps practitioners with expertise in;
▪️Outdoor learning
▪️Play
▪️Active Travel
▪️Physically Active Learning
could be commissioned by national partners to develop an approach to #WSPA creating #PositiveExperiences for pupils while building capability/capacity in schools
@ICT_MrP 🧵1.
I would be interested to know what ‘national sporting expertise’ looks like… and if this is an appropriate strategy for increasing activity levels of CYP who aren’t meeting the daily recommendations.
'The over-explaining trap'
The tricky balancing act of teacher talk...
"Explicit instruction is necessary, but the most effective explanations act as a springboard to launch students quickly into guided, and then independent, practice"

How do you incorporate 'wider learning' into your PE lessons? So the cognitive/social development etc?
Do you purposefully integrate it and have it as a learning intention/outcome, or are you of the impression it happend naturally through activities that are planned for?
Ok primary school teachers...
If/when you teach PE, and if you follow a scheme:
- how soon before the lesson do you look at the lesson?
- do you need/have anything with you in the lesson, such as the plan to support you?
