The kind of attacks that Dr Anthony Fauci is being subjected to by Republicans is disgraceful and dangerous.
This man is a hero. He helped save *millions* of lives.
Yet, he is vilified by Republican members of congress who are more interested in political expediency and posturing than in the safety of the public,
Some even attack the very concept of science, the scientific method.
This is insanely dangerous.
The undermining of the public's trust in the public health system actually killed people during the pandemic.
I've complained about how some captains of industry treating their scientists, but the mistreatment of Dr Fauci by congressional Republicans tops everything.

Never underestimate the mood-elevating power of a totally unexpected, unsolicited word of sincere praise for someone who might need it than they even realize. It could be a paper you read, a talk you attended, a podcast you listened to. Write a short note. Make their day.

Good video. If I could add one thing: academia rewards closers, not starters. It’s easy to be enthusiastic about new projects, and lose steam for old ones. But you gotta get those papers submitted, and revisions completed. This is often years after you started the project!
I resigned as an Associate Editor for a Frontiers journal because of the way their automated system took away much of my editorial autonomy. some details that might also explain odd reviewer/author experiences:

Please explain to me why getting a competitive fellowship is a punishment. @UW is increasing salary to $65,508 for all postdocs starting 1/1/2023 EXCEPT for the ones awarded with fellowships. And we are already losing all the retirement benefits for being a fellow.
Now published in Research Policy:
I looked at 27k postdoc salaries across the US, their relationship to cost of living, tenure-track job prospects, and how things have been changing over time. Here's what I found:
