The Canadian Ditchley Foundation brought together this group of august thinkers in Toronto over the last 3 days. To be joined throughout by the incredible Dr. Janice Stein (front row, small but very mighty) was a special honour for all of us. I came home more optimistic about what this country can do. Many thanks to Ditchley Canada for bringing us together.
@sjmuir@gthomasCJca@Resource_Works@Margare7a This woman will be the one everyone in caucus looks to for advice on how to build a resource economy, how to create thousands of new high paying jobs and how to diversify our economy. A great catch for the BCC and for B.C.
Lions game last night with Canada's best Premier, @PremierScottMoe and B.C's next Premier @LDoerkson.
Both, plain spoken, dependable men who do what they say they'll do.
What a contrast to our current govt.
@JohnRustad4BC John! Pull yourself together man. You were in my Cabinet for years so I know you know how we keep the NDP out of govt. Not by stoking division among ourselves but by coming together. Thats how we will defeat this terrible govt and fix their economic mess. ALL of us. Together
@McInnis_4MLA@gthomasCJca Good to see you leading on this Scott. We have a huge task ahead to defeat this terrible govt and bring back prosperity to B.C. A big tent is the only way to do it. The way we've always done it.
Until today, @lngcanada was the biggest private sector investment in Canadian history, a project we set out to build starting in 2011. Today, Saskatchewan beat that milestone: Bell AI Fabric's expansion near Regina brings its total investment to $52 billion.
I always had a feeling @PremierScottMoe would be the one to take it. That's what a good Premier does: create the conditions, then get out of the way and let investment happen.
Congrats to the Saskies. Well earned.

Dolly Parton was my feminist idol.
She chose and charted her own path.
She made herself rich and shared much of her wealth with people who knew poverty the way she once had.
She gave millions of children the gift of reading.
She put her arms around the gay community when the AIDS crisis was at its height.
And she gave so much beautiful and inspiring music.
She lives in my heart always .
This is a rupture.
A moment in history when we may look back and say it was a time when Canadians bravely came together to sustain our nation. Finally.
Trying to find some sunshine amidst the gloomy trade news.
Thereโs no denying that small businesses, most with limited options, will be walloped. That alone will be a terrible economic setback.
1.Cementing trade relationships outside the US.
2.Extracting our natural resources - ones desperately needed by our allies.
3.Building hard infrastructure like ports and pipelines to get our goods to them.
4.Uniting provinces around eliminating internal trade barriers so we can better support Canadian businesses to thrive.
But the positive impact of this must be that after a decade of terrible governance in Ottawa and too much squabbling self interest from provincial leaders, this crisis will finally serve to unite Canada as a nation.
One built on:
The 5 Conditions are back! Who said those were a terrible idea? Uh....everyone from the BC NDP to the Alberta govt. They were always a sensible bottom line. SO pleased to see they are still the guide to getting pipelines built in BC.

Few people have given more to this country than Frank McKenna. Premier, ambassador, business leader, and someone who still fights for Canada every single day. I sat down with him for a conversation about the extraordinary moment we are in right now, the very real threats we face, and why he believes our best days are still ahead.
