I think this image just suggests (confirms?) that ATV can now passthrough full bitstreams (like Dolby TrueHD with Atmos) to an AVR (fwiw 9.1.6 is just a layout) meaning it’s no longer decoding to lossy DD+ internally. Third-party apps can now send lossless Atmos with full object metadata, enabling layouts beyond 7.1.4.
For reference, the https://t.co/oZXar0PLh4 already did this using private APIs, which is why layouts like 9.1.6 (or larger) worked before. Now, tvOS 26 opens that up to everyone.

I’m not sure if you’re allowed to talk about this, but how is SH2 on PC able to scale Dolby Atmos and render beautifully through all speakers compared to other games, which 99% are fixed to 7.1.4 only? Is SH2 using a custom audio engine (PC) or is this Tempest metadata injected into an Atmos container? This is truly state-of-the-art stuff
Silent Hill 2 + Dolby Atmos audio is quite possibly the scariest and most tense experience to ever exist in gaming.

Yup. It’s 100% object-based. There’s a bug (either in the processor software or the system) where objects do not render visually. But this is just how sounds are played from the object’s metadata in a large speaker layout. I’m using a Trinnov Altitude processor, which has an object/sound visualizer for Dolby Atmos.

But they way it scales, hearing *every* detail in larger speaker layouts, is absolutely INSANE 👌
El hack para ser Contractor y que te vaya bien, del que nadie habla:
