(1/6) NIPBL is required to fuel loop extrusion by cohesin. Is it also required for cohesin loading?

Tomorrow and invited by Ana Losada, @ChromDyn, Oscar Martinez will be at #CNIOStopCancer to speak about multi-omic approach to decipher the molecular mechanisms associated to #EwingSarcoma metastasis using a spontaneous metastasis mouse model.
👏Looking forward to it!
We are hiring!!!! 📢
We offer a 4-year FPI fellowship to work on Cohesin and 3D genome organization at @CNIOStopCancer.

Finally out in @NatureComms!🥳
Is NIPBL required for cohesin loading in mammalian cells?
Why do STAG1 and STAG2 cohesin complexes respond to NIPBL KD in opposite ways?

(5/6) We propose a new model in which cohesin does not need NIPBL for chromatin association but it does for loop extrusion.
While cohesin-STAG1 binds at CTCF sites and becomes stabilized rapidly, cohesin-STAG2 bind elsewhere and require NIPBL in order to reach CTCF positions.
🧬Check out our latest contribution to current understanding of cohesin dynamics. A joint effort from past and current group members!
