🚨Being avoidant feels safe right up until you realize you’ve built a life where nobody really knows you. You get good at exit strategies. You master the art of leaving before things get messy. You pretend it’s noble – “I don’t want to be a burden,” “I just need space,” “I’m protecting them.” But it’s not. It’s fear dressed up like logic. It’s self-preservation at the cost of connection.
And the worst part is, people still fall for you. They try. They lean in. They ask the right questions and hold the door open. And you give them crumbs, a wink, a story with the sharp edges sanded down. Just enough to keep them near, but never enough to let them in. Until one day they stop trying. And you pretend not to care, but you do. You fucking do.
So yeah, one day you wake up – usually not from sleep, but from another lost thing – and you realize the only way forward is to stop flinching every time someone gets close. To say the scary thing. To answer the text. To admit you missed them. To stay when you want to vanish. Not once, not twice. Constantly.
It’s not poetic. It’s humiliating. Like dragging your ribs open and hoping they don’t laugh. But it’s the only way. Otherwise you’re just a charming ghost haunting people who tried to love you.
And eventually, even ghosts get lonely 😭😭
- being scared to voice your opinions
-having social anxiety
-extreme fear of making mistakes
-people pleasing
-being a forced introvert
No it didn’t 🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♀️
personally I'd love to have a kid but:
- no maternity leave
- no healthcare
- U.S. cost of living is way too high
- climate change unaddressed
- rampant fascism
how does anyone bring a child into this world under these circumstances?
joined an essay club and it’s bringing me so much joy
we meet biweekly, read an essay, then just… talk. lower lift than book club, same depth
reminds me of my uni discussions. i used to worry i’d lose that kind of ideas community in adulthood, but you can just recreate it
yes and i have to remind myself that indecision/purgatory is an illusion bc if you’re still breathing you are choosing life whether you know it or not and life is better when it’s experienced with intention and purpose.
the minute you decide you want better for yourself is the minute the entire universe begins to shift in your favor. your command, intentions, declaration, visions and prayers begin the creation of the new reality. all you have to do is decide and never look back.
the best way to avoid this is to cultivate intellectual sparring partners in real life. find people who are independent thinkers, who you trust, whose opinions you respect, who challenge you, and make them your sounding board.
the whole point of making money is paying for dinner for ur friends and buying a little gift for your cousins and getting flowers for ur parents and giving it away to ur neighbors and every once in a while following a little dream in ur head
You can rise up from anything! You can completely recreate yourself! Nothing is permanent! You are not stuck! You have choices! You can think new thoughts! You can learn something new! You can create new habits! All that matters is that you decide today and never look back!!!
