In the papal encyclical Exsurge Domine, Leo X condemns Martin Luther on 41 of counts of heresy, branding him an enemy of the Roman Catholic Church. After the encyclical, Luther's works were burned in Rome.
the feast of booths is the climax of the festivals because it reminds us that here, we have no lasting city. we look for a country where sin has not stained.
I'm gonna lose it. Asian piety is gonna kill the church. Fuck all this "face/honour" nonsense. The heart wants what it wants, and if it's not God, it's everything else but.
Please have mercy on us Father.
False Convert
• excited for heaven, bored by the church
• excited for heaven, whether or not God is there
• likes Jesus, but didn’t sign up for the rest (holiness, suffering)
• bothered by others’ sins more than their own
• holds grace cheap and their own comfort costly
“I would never…” — Peter (Matt. 26:33)

Ministry isn’t about moral posturing. It’s about humble dependence. We fall when we forget we’re dust.
Where does error come from, according to Jesus?
“Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?” Mark 12:24
"My sinful habits will do more harm to my family than my precepts can do good. Children are more apt to be led by the eye than the ear. Therefore, I wish that I may take heed to myself, weigh and watch over all my words and works, not only for my own, but also for the sake of these who are under my charge. O that I might be wary in all my ways and be so serious in spiritual actions, so sober in natural actions, so righteous towards men, so devout towards my God, so faithful in every relation, and so holy and heavenly in every condition, that I would be able to say to my children and servants as Gideon to his soldiers, 'Look on me, and do likewise' (Jdg 7:17)."

The Synod of Dort concludes in Holland after six months of intense theological debate. Convened to settle disputes raised by the rise of Arminianism, the Synod reaffirmed the authority of the Heidelberg Catechism and upheld the doctrines of what would later be called the “Five Points of Calvinism.” In the aftermath, around 200 Arminian pastors were removed from their positions, marking a decisive moment in Reformed church history.
