As a society we have to stop glorifying the caretaker role. Or the glue of the family.

We have to be honest about the silent suffering.

The role it takes on the body and spirit.

The fact that she also has needs, and they matter.

That she needs support because she might look like she has it all together but she is dissociated.

It’s time for us to recognize this role brings suffering and to teach every parentified daughter she deserves the same care she gives.

That it HEALTHY to be selfish at times.

That rest and boundaries are the greatest act of self love.
