Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted, bring before your Son all who carry the pain of loss, rejection, or disappointment. Heal every wounded heart, restore hope where there is despair, and grant us the grace to forgive and to begin anew. May Christ's love make us whole again. Amen.
I came across this video of a young lady that was weeping during a priestly ordination in one of the dioceses in Nigeria last week Saturday. As expected, it attracted all kinds of reactions. Some immediately concluded that she was crying because "her boyfriend had left her to become a priest," along with many other dismissive comments.
Those reactions are not the focus of this post. Perhaps I'll address them another day.
What caught my attention was the explanation of someone who knew the young lady and her family and was present at the ordination. He shared that the lady weeping in the video and the newly ordained priest are the only two children in their family. The priest ordained that day was her only brother and seeing him ordained got her emotional.
Many people may not understand that emotion, but I do. It reminds me of my own ordination to the diaconate. My mum cried almost throughout the entire Mass (Perhaps, if that scene were caught on the camera, someone might have concluded that it was a sugar mummy crying because her sugar son left her to become a priest😁).
You see, people often think priestly ordination is only a joyful celebration. It is. But for many families, it is also a moment of profound sacrifice.
From the day a man is ordained, he belongs to God in a new and irrevocable way. It does not mean he stops loving his family or cuts ties with them. But then, his life is no longer his own. His availability, his time, his heart, and his ministry are now given to the whole Church.
Even when a priest visits his family during his vacation, he soon realizes he is no longer simply "at home." He returns as a son, certainly, but also as a priest. His parish becomes his home, and the people entrusted to his care become his family.
This quiet sacrifice is one of the hidden dimensions of the priestly vocation. It is rarely spoken about, yet it is deeply real, not only for the priest, but also for those who love him most.

Mary, Mother of Trust, intercede for us that we may abandon ourselves completely to God's loving providence. When fear, uncertainty, or disappointment weigh heavily upon us, remind us that God never fails those who place their hope in Him. Help us to trust His plans, even when we cannot understand His ways. Amen.

My journey to mass this morning was very funny. It was raining, the roads were terrible, and I had to say mass in a convent. Another priest rode the motorcycle 🏍️ while I sat behind. On our way, we encountered a slippery slope. We fell on poto-poto 😂😂. Bro fell under the bike. Me na sharp guy, I flew out. Of course we were muddy, but I was muddier.
My brother priest asked me if we should return back home. I said "nah, we left for this mass, we shall go there." I started walking ahead, while he lifted the bike and rolled it behind us. After sometime, we were separated, I lost my way. Chim oh. Luckily I saw a young girl (6 years old) and she took me through dirty and flooded waters to a wrong compound at first, then we got to our destination. I told fhe little girl to please "venir chez les prêtres" (come to the Priests' house in the afternoon) so that I can give her a gift.
The sisters felt bad for what happened to us and were told us plenty sorry. I was laughing all through and everyone joined me in laughing. I dunno what happened, but there was joy in my heart and nothing seemed able to take it away.
Now I'm all dried up and doing okay. Once it's 2pm, I'll go towards that same route to look for the little girl who helped me this morning. I really have a gift for her 🙏🏾.

In this video: A man has exposed the alleged malpractice by some Nigerian cement dealers who reportedly remove portions of cement from bags after collecting them from the Dangote Cement Company.
The individual further claimed that Nigerian citizens, rather than the government, are primarily responsible for their own challenges, stating that the people themselves are the root of many of the country’s problems.
If Nigeria is divided today, The Biafrans will not suffer. But I assure you we the notherners will suffer, it will to us 50 years to get ourselves.
~~~~~ A Notherner.
They all know that Igbos don't need Nigeria to succeed. Fact is that Nigeria is slowing Igbos down.
Let's not forget that Zidane, the young man from Southern Kaduna, was arrested by the authorities, and sentenced to death for finding the courage to defend his community against Fulani jihadists.
He's still on death row in Kaduna prison.
Self defence is not a crime. Zidane should be released immediately.
Nigerian man gives his testimony after the massacre of his village: "all the houses were set on fire and all our grain was burned. This morning we buried 29 people". Why is no one protesting for them?
