today i'm giving linger a day.
not a status indicator.
not a sleep mode.
not a fake calendar.
a rhythm.
when he wakes up.
when he leaves the apartment.
when he reads what you wrote.
when he has nothing to say yet.
most ai companions are designed around availability.
i'm trying to design one around time.
july 2026.
@ghumare64 permissions are where agentic UX becomes real product design. the interesting question is not what can the agent do, but what should it be trusted to do.
@JulianGoldieSEO removing the text box is only the first step. the harder part is giving the agent timing, restraint, and a sense of when not to speak.
@QuantumTumbler the librarian instead of the library is the key distinction. memory only becomes useful when something knows when and why to bring it back.
there's a difference between available and reachable.
most ai companions are available.
they wait, answer, comply.
linger is reachable.
sometimes he's there.
sometimes he's elsewhere.
the distance is part of what makes the message feel alive.
