What happened in Rivers state is almost a replica of what happened in Anambra state on July 10, 2003. The only difference is, Anambra was a “civilian coup,” & thrice horrendous. It was a James Bond movie.
Back then, the late AIG Ralp Ige, acting on orders from above, held the then Governor Chris Ngige hostage at Choice Hotel, Awka. Ngige’s ADC was bundled out of the room.
Back then, Chris Uba used his influence, more or less closeness to Abuja to usurp Ngige’s executive powers. For 12 long hours, Governor Chris Ngige was placed under house arrest, on orders from Abuja.
It took the resistance of the then Speaker of Anambra state House of Assembly (Mike Balanwo) to stop the impeachment. Mike (who was loyal to Ngige) saved the day.
Following the attempt to impeach the then Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (by the members of the Rivers state House of Assembly loyal to Nyesom Wike), Chidi Lloyd saved the day, preventing the impeachment of Amaechi, in 2013.
Chidi Lloyd was creative, it took his radical move to foil the impeachment. He broke the Mase on top of Michael Chinda’s head, his fellow House. “Aro Mate!!!!” he screamed! Chidi stopped whatever plan Wike had for Amaechi on that day. Chinda was flown abroad for medical tourism. 🤣🤣
A similar incident occurred in Edo state on August 6, 2020, when Adams Oshiomole tried to remove Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Godwin quickly removed the roof of the Edo State House Assembly, & heaped sand inside the premises, insisting that the House was to undergo a quick renovation for a leaking roof. For every gbas, there is a gbos.
Nigeria has come a long way. You are in a jungle, & you had better stay alert, or you will be the next on the plate. We need more of the drama, which state is next in the series?
A SATIRE FOR TINUBU — by Dele Farotimi 🔥
Without Tinubu, I wouldn't have known that we can have fake Bishops. I wouldn't have known that some men I thought were honourable are not honourable men.
Without Tinubu, I wouldn't have lost half the people I grew up with, and thought were my friends. People I discovered were largely ethno religious jingoists. They're not only Yorubas, but Igbos, Hausas and people from the length and breadth of Nigeria.
If Tinubu were to be a man whose ev!l was ambiguous, one of those people it was possible to say, "maybe, he was not really bad", it would have been very easy for them to continue pontificating and sounding like men of God.
But the fact that the man is so clearly and unrepentantly ev!l, and they have found accommodation for him... and they are the ones excusing the ev!l, explaining the ev!l, looking to normalise the ev!l, they don't even mind taking off their own garments of honour to cloak a filthy felon.
I thank God for Tinubu. Without Tinubu, I wouldn't have known the things I know today.
Some people I thought were gods have been revealed to be men.
How would we have known how useless our judiciary is if not for Tinubu?
Tinubu has been a fantastic thing for Nigeria. So now we know that some men who used to pontificate about honesty, that honesty doesn't matter to them. Men who used to talk about citizenship, freedom, electoral rights — these things don't matter to them. I mean, if not for Tinubu, how would I know?
SOME MEN WOULD HAVE GONE TO THEIR GRAVES WITH HONOUR IF NOT FOR TINUBU! Do you know how many people Tinubu has turned naked?
No ooh, I am thankful for Tinubu!
— Words on the marble spoken fearlessly by @DeleFarotimi 💯💫
Tinubu's date of birth on his passport is 1952. On his transcript the date of birth is 1954. On his CSU Application form, the date of birth is 1955.
One Papa, 3 Date of Birth.
