I WAS A FEW SECONDS FROM BEING SCAMMED!!

If I didn't know better, I would have been crying about wallet DRAINAGE.

Sometime last week, I got a message from Mr. Eric's old Twitter @e_annan24 on the possibility of working together for Defi research with one of his partners.

I was offered my standard juicy reward, hard to pass up, of course. (these scammers are sha very sharp). They asked for my TG handle, and I gave them added me to a group with 7 other folks.

I initially didn't see it as anything until the part of the conversation where I insisted we go on a call to discuss further. I didn't get any response until Friday; apparently, he was busy in China 😂.
At that point, I sensed foul play because I knew Mr. Eric was in Accra for #muAccra. I played along until they said we should go to Telegram to talk further.
These people just kept going on and on until I pointed out that they've still not adequately explained the purpose of the group and the details of the work.

I forgot to mention that I noticed Mr. Eric wasn't in the TG group.

Long story short, they finally sent a meeting link. I clicked on it and saw it required downloading an app; at that point, I stopped.

I immediately texted Mr. Eric on TG to confirm if he was the only one I'd been chatting with on Twitter, and he immediately said no, that his account was hacked.

My partner came on Twitter to search for the KAKAOTALK cause that's the name of the video conferencing app, and we saw some posts of people talking about how their wallets got drained after downloading it.

I texted the guys in the TG group, asking them why we couldn't have the call on ZOOM or Google Meet, and they said they're in China, and cause of Internet restrictions, they can't use Google Meet.

They kept texting me on the group to ask why I wasn't on the call, and they were ready to give me directions on how to download the app.

I just sent them screenshots of the results I got from Twitter about the KAKAO Call and of my search of the website on Google, which showed the link they shared was not the correct one.

The guys deleted all the msgs I sent to the group and kicked me out.

Let's all beware of the links "prospective clients" send to us here on Twitter or Telegram in the name of sealing a deal.

If I hadn't stopped for a moment to verify, I'd have probably downloaded the app and got my wallets drained.

I hope this helps someone.

France 3: All my texts were deleted, and I was pursued with 2 by 2.
