🚨EXCLUSIVE🚨 A Nato commander’s romance with a woman he met on Tinder triggered a security alert at a British military base over fears she was spying for Russia.

The senior Spanish naval officer was dating Janina White, a UK-Polish dual national who was born in Soviet Russia, when she was accused of being a Kremlin agent.

At the time, the Spanish officer was based at Allied Maritime Command (Marcom), in Northwood HQ, Herts, which monitors Russian submarines and warships prowling UK waters, and tracks sanctioned oil tankers from Vladimir Putin’s shadow fleet.

The married father of two, who had split up with his wife shortly before starting a relationship with Ms White in late 2024, was suspended from duty after Spanish and Nato security officials became suspicious of her.

British Northwood staff later stripped him of his access pass, and the base commander banned him from entering the premises while intelligence personnel investigated. In the summer of 2025, he was removed from the base and returned to Spain.

Ms White, 49, who lives in Romford, east London, has denied claims of spying and insisted she was an unfair victim of discrimination because of her Russian heritage. She is no longer in a relationship with the Spanish naval commander.

Ms White was never arrested nor has any investigation proved she is a foreign agent.

“I definitely know I am not a Russian spy. The last time I checked I wasn’t,” she told The Telegraph.

However, she claims that last month a Russian intelligence officer took her out for coffee and questioned her during a trip she took to St Petersburg to visit her ill father.

The spy, who Ms White said was called Andrei and was from Russia’s Federal Security Service, spent two hours interrogating her at a café near the city’s metro station about the security investigation and her relationship with the Nato sailor.
