@MartynPitman@Michelehal7344 No worries - my response was to a post saying midwives could not work in NNU which is not the case, I just did a quick reply explaining! Glad that’s clearer now anyway
@Michelehal7344@MartynPitman I am aware, which is why I said now. I have no idea what time you are referring to, especially as you mention supervisor of midwives which have not been in place for 10 years
@MartynPitman@Michelehal7344 I’m saying that it is possible to get a job on a neonatal unit. In fact I was encouraged to apply after my placement. We spend time as part of the degree on the neonatal unit. The expectation is then to undertake QIS and often have about 12 weeks supernumerary for training
@Michelehal7344@MartynPitman Not the case in England now! I am a midwife. Hospitals hire you as a midwife at band 5 and keep your registration. The supervisor of midwives role no longer exists, it hasn’t for the last 10 years or so not sure if that’s what you’re referring to
@DrHuw I’m alarmed if midwives can’t recognise this. It’s very much ingrained in the training, mine anyway! I wonder if it’s to do with imbalances of quality of degree, I have spoken to other DE midwives and have been surprised they have not been aware of certain conditions etc
@ShashlikNo1@JennyCampbell90@altontowers Because babies should be fed without mums being shamed. This should be norm not something that needs addressing. Hope that helps
@BootsUK hi, I’m having issues registering my advantage card so I can use it online. When I try and register it the first 6 digits that pop up are automatically there and you cannot change are different to mine
@catherineroyuk Ummm my first child in 2019 was booked by a midwife. And had a pregnancy in 2018, also a midwife booking. I don’t think this has been a particularly new thing. I don’t know anyone within 10 years who’s booked with a GP.
@HazelAppleyard I agree that they should have never been alone but I do think it’s not normal for a 5 year old to think it’s ok to throw a BABY from a window. Something clearly isn’t right there
