⚡️ TODAY: Vitalik Buterin calls for “EIP-8288 maximalism,” saying heavy cryptography should be STARKed client-side and kept off Ethereum’s main chain so the network never needs to add another precompile.

[crypto.news @cryptodotnews]

JUST IN: Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum should move cryptography off-chain

He argues that heavy computations should be proved with STARKs off-chain and verified through EIP-8288, reducing blockchain data demands while letting developers use different cryptographic systems without adding more precompiles.

News: JPM Coin (JPMD), @jpmorgan's USD deposit token, is now live on @ethereum.

JPMD extends from Base to Ethereum L1, giving institutional clients native onchain cash that sits alongside the assets, collateral and counterparties they transact with already.

J.P. Morgan has now added a cash leg to the products it already live on Ethereum mainnet, with tokenized money market funds MONY and JLTXX both already on the network.

Ethereum is the home of onchain finance.

[CoinDesk @CoinDesk]

NEW: @JPMorgan is bringing its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum, targeting crypto firms and institutional clients that need a regulated digital token for blockchain payments and trade settlement.

[CoinMarketCap @CoinMarketCap]

LATEST: 🏦 JPMorgan has rolled out its JPM Coin deposit token on Ethereum for institutional clients, expanding beyond Base.

What are the biggest security concerns for Web3 teams preparing to launch or scale? 👀

That has been one of the most interesting themes coming out of @token2049 Singapore.

For some teams, the biggest concern is still smart contract security. They want to know whether the code has been properly audited, whether vulnerabilities could affect funds or protocol logic, and whether changes made after an audit have introduced new risks. For others, the concern sits outside the smart contract itself and moves into penetration testing, APIs, authentication, infrastructure and the broader application environment.

With Cyberscope, many of the conversations have focused on exactly these questions: when to audit, when penetration testing becomes necessary, how KYC can support trust and transparency, and how remediation should be handled once issues are identified. There is rarely one single security concern. The bigger challenge is understanding which risks matter most for the project at its current stage and what should be addressed first.

We have also been discussing application security with @tac_security , including how platforms such as ESOF AppSec can help teams move beyond one-off testing and take a more continuous approach to identifying, prioritising, remediating and rescanning vulnerabilities across web applications, mobile applications and APIs.

And with @socifybytac , the conversation expands into compliance. SOC 2 readiness, automated evidence collection, continuous monitoring and reducing the manual work behind compliance are increasingly relevant for growing technology companies that need to demonstrate stronger security and operational controls.

So, what is your biggest concern right now?

🔐 Contract vulnerabilities
🛡️ Application security and penetration testing
✅ KYC and team verification
📊 Vulnerability remediation
☁️ SOC 2 and compliance
🤝 Building trust with users, partners and exchanges
Here are some of the themes and conversations we have been discussing during TOKEN2049 Singapore 🇸🇬🎥

And that’s a wrap on TOKEN2049 Singapore 🇸🇬✨

Two intense days of conversations, meetings, new connections and discussions around what security really means for growing Web3 and technology companies.

From smart contract audits and penetration testing to KYC, application security, vulnerability management and SOC 2 compliance, the conversations at the booth reflected how much the security landscape is evolving. For many teams, it is no longer about solving one isolated problem. It is about understanding how smart contracts, applications, infrastructure, compliance and trust all fit together.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared what they are building, asked questions and took the time to meet the team. 🚀

Cyberscope, TAC Security and Socify may cover different parts of the security journey, but the goal is the same: helping companies build with greater confidence, stronger controls and fewer blind spots.

Here are a few moments from our second and final day at TOKEN2049 Singapore 📸

And if you missed us in Singapore, there is another chance to meet the team very soon.

Yesterday marked the second and final day of TOKEN2049 Singapore 🇸🇬🎥

Two days of meetings, conversations and new connections gave us the chance to speak with founders, partners and Web3 teams about the security challenges they are facing right now, and the ones they are preparing for next.

With Cyberscope, conversations covered the full Web3 security journey, from smart contract audits and penetration testing to KYC verification, similarity scans, remediation and ongoing security assessment. 🔐🛡️✅

We also had the opportunity to showcase the wider TAC Security ecosystem. @tac_security brings a broader application security perspective through solutions such as ESOF AppSec, helping organisations identify, prioritise, remediate and continuously monitor vulnerabilities across web applications, mobile applications and APIs. 📱🌐🔎

And with @socifybytac , the conversation extended into SOC 2 compliance, automated evidence collection, continuous monitoring, cloud checks across AWS, GCP and Azure, and AI-powered remediation guidance. ☁️📊🤖

One thing was clear throughout the event: security is no longer just one audit, one test or one compliance requirement. It is about understanding risk across the entire technology stack and building the right processes as companies grow.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared what they are building and took the time to speak with the team. 🤝

Here is a look back at our second and final day at TOKEN2049 Singapore. 🚀

Ethereum Just Solved a Piece of L1-L2 Fragmentation

Ethereum just hit an important milestone for its L1 + L2 ecosystem.

The Ethereum mainnet completed its first atomic transaction between L1 and L2.

In simple terms:
• L1 and L2 can coordinate in the same transaction instead of acting more like separate networks
• Less fragmentation → Apps and liquidity across different Ethereum layers can work together more easily
• Better user experience → Cross-layer actions could become faster and simpler

Why does this matter?
Ethereum has many L2s, but liquidity and users are often split across them.

Atomic composability could help make these layers feel more like one connected Ethereum ecosystem.

This is only the first step, but it could be an important piece of Ethereum’s long-term scaling roadmap.

🚨 CRITICAL ETH SECURITY UPDATE

A critical vulnerability has been discovered in the Ethereum app on Ledger hardware wallets.

The flaw could allow a malicious application to alter ETH transaction details during signing without the change being visible on your Ledger device screen.

Fixed in Ethereum app v1.22.2

If you use Ledger for ETH or Ethereum assets:
• Update the Ethereum app to v1.22.2+
• Update Ledger Live
• Update your Ledger firmware
• Avoid signing transactions until everything is updated

If you hold ethereum:native on Ledger, update ASAP.

🚀 Bank of America Is Rotating From MSTR Into Ethereum

Bank of America made a notable move in Q2:
• MSTR holdings: 3.97M → 1.18M shares, down ~70%
• BlackRock ETHA: 67.5K → 1.98M shares, nearly 29x higher
• ETHA position value: ~$23.6M

One of the world’s largest banks is significantly reducing its exposure to a Bitcoin proxy while massively increasing its position in a spot Ethereum ETF.

The institutional debate is gradually moving beyond “Bitcoin or nothing” toward a broader thesis where Ethereum offers exposure to staking, tokenization, stablecoins, DeFi, and onchain financial infrastructure.

One bank shifting this aggressively doesn’t prove an ETH rotation is happening across the entire TradFi market.

But when an institution as large as Bank of America moves from BTC-linked exposure toward spot ETH exposure, it’s hard not to see it as a positive signal for Ethereum’s institutional adoption.

ETH may finally be getting the institutional recognition it has been waiting for.
