An elderly woman was riding her bicycle along a road in Ukraine’s Sumy region when she noticed two military robots. One was damaged. The other was trying to pull it out of danger.
Realizing they were Ukrainian, she stopped and went to help.
The damaged ground robot of Ukraine’s 71st Airmobile Brigade had hit a Russian mine. Operators sent another unmanned vehicle to recover it, but remotely connecting the two for towing proved difficult.
So the woman simply stepped in.
She guided the recovery robot into position, helped it hook up the damaged machine — and the job was done.
Then she returned to her bicycle and continued on her way as if nothing extraordinary had happened.
We don’t know her name. We don’t know where she was going or who was waiting for her at home.
But there is something profoundly Ukrainian in these images: she saw that our soldiers needed help, helped them — and rode on.
A grandmother, a bicycle, two military robots and a war.
Ukraine. 🇺🇦💙💛
The Israeli football team is wearing black armbands in tonight’s match against @IrelandFootball, in memory of those murdered in the October 7 massacre.
May their memory be a blessing.
To everyone who says "just give him Donbas":
Georgia lost 20% of its territory in 2008. Russia is still moving the fence, a few metres at a time, eighteen years later.
Zelensky said it this week: Putin's goal isn't Donbas. It's the whole country.
You don't feed a wolf to make it vegetarian.
KYIV — JUST NOW.
The exact moment russian terrorists struck civilian cars on the Pivnichnyi Bridge.
Sunday morning. Broad daylight. Civilian traffic.
They knew people were there.
russia is a terrorist state.
The lies you've all been fed about Nazi's and NATO expansion. All BS.
They want to rebuild the Russian empire. They want all of Ukraine and they won't stop with Ukraine.
At the command post of the Third Army Corps, I met with the warriors carrying out Operation Vivaldi. It is a serious operation, important in many ways for our defense overall and for the Donbas in particular. Over its three seasons, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have thwarted Russia’s plans to break through to the rear of the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk urban agglomeration and stabilized the situation in this section of the front. Russia has lost more than 5,000 killed and wounded, and another 250 occupiers have been added to our exchange fund. Since the start of the offensive, Ukraine has regained control of a total of 176 square kilometers of territory. Today, we discussed plans for the fourth season of active operations.
I also spoke with the commanders of the units directly involved in the operation. We discussed their needs in detail, including artillery, as well as compensation. One particularly promising area now is replacing our warriors with ground robotic systems wherever possible. During Vivaldi, this capability allowed us to accomplish many things. We will scale it up so that, more and more often, a drone rather than a warrior carries out the most dangerous tasks at the front.
I presented the warriors with state awards. Thank you for defending Ukraine and for your service!

Here’s an example of a deliberate distortion of history. If after reading this you came away thinking Slava Ukraini was a fascist slogan because OUN-B used it, and that this is what the phrase is, you could be forgiven: that is the impression the text is structured to achieve.
In reality, the expression appears already in 1839 in genitive form, in Taras Shevchenko’s poem To Osnovianenko (glory of Ukraine). He’s not exactly a marginal figure in Ukraine. Chubynsky’s 1862 poem that became the national anthem also opens with “Shche ne vmerla Ukraina, i slava, i volia” (glory and freedom, nominative).
In the student community in Kharkiv in the late 1890s, there was already a response, “Po vsii zemli slava!” (glory throughout the land), and this is where Ukraine’s first modern party in Russian-ruled Ukraine, the Revolutionary Ukrainian Party, came from.
It became a mass slogan during the struggle for independence in 1917-21, and different formations had variants of the reply (eg, Kozakam slava! — the Cossacks; Hetmanu slava! — the hetmanate of Skoropadsky). In 1920, the UNR Army Commander made it the official military reply to praise.
The reply “Heroyam slava!” was adopted by the Legion of Ukrainian Nationalists in 1925, changing the Cossack response. That’s one of the groups that OUN eventually came out from in 1929. And even then the Bandera wing only officially adopted that response in its 1941 assembly after the split.
So, Bandera’s group appropriated a widely used phrase that had been associated with the struggle for nationhood from the start, for nearly a century before they came around.
The phrase was suppressed by the Soviets after 1945 but kept alive by the diaspora. It made a comeback with the Revolution on Granite in 1990 and independence. It was used during the Orange Revolution and Euromaidan as well. In 2018, it was made the official greeting of the armed forces (again!)
The idea that the OUN-B tainted the phrase with the atrocities it committed is fair.
That this makes a fascist slogan of a phrase that belonged to the Ukrainian national movement for nearly a century before them, and to every major Ukrainian mobilization since, is not.
I no longer have words to express my rage and, above all, the shame that is washing over me... so I am left with this drawing, which speaks for itself!!! #ShameOnUs
Kyiv. Civilians try to escape the fire after a Russian drone struck the National Academy of Sciences.
The drone that carried out the strike was built mostly from Chinese components.
Meanwhile, the EU is lifting sanctions on Russian oligarchs.
The US President is asking that Russian oil refineries not be attacked.
The world has gone mad.
And soon this hell will come to other countries too. Because unpunished evil always grows.
