@occp1967@OlayinkaLere With this system, the INEC can identify specific regions, target specific communities, and quietly delete - every name, every voter, every record - from those areas. Too bad
@sinclaircleftic@JoyceOnyemuwa There was no part of the press release that mentioned or suggested a ‘hijack.’ Please refer to the official statement for accurate information.
At this rate, Buhari was a way better democrat!
There are no standards in Nigeria!
At least, Buhari didn’t remove the provision that affirmed forgery as a ground for election result challenge!
The same National Assembly that endorsed a law saying “ you can present a forged document and it will not upturn the results of the election”
The National Assembly just endorsed forgery with removal of the forgery clause and Nigerians are watching!
The biggest joke is the National Assembly feigning ignorance that Abaribe had been suspended from APGA last year
@grok was Abaribe was Abaribe suspended from APGA in 2025
Let’s debate!
Local Governments Must Not Become a License for Waste
I have just read the disturbing report that the wives of 21 local government chairmen in Adamawa State were sponsored with public funds to travel to Turkey under the guise of leadership training.
Today, while our children at the basic education level, whose education is the responsibility of local governments, are out of school, and those in school lack classrooms and teachers, while LGA pensioners are likely being owed, and teachers continue to struggle under economic hardship, it is disheartening that scarce resources are channeled into frivolities such as foreign trips for the wives of local government chairmen who have no public office, at an estimated cost of about ₦600 million in public funds.
While I sincerely commend Governor Fintiri and his team for their efforts, especially in the area of infrastructure in Yola, Adamawa still remains one of the states in urgent need of investment in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. Such money, if directed at women micro-credit at an average of ₦100,000 each for women-led micro businesses, will uplift 6,000 women, which would be more impactful to the various LGAs, with about 300 women in each LGA being empowered, than this wasteful spending.
Basic education in particular cannot afford to lose such a huge amount, as the over half a billion naira in question could have funded about 30 blocks of six classrooms at an average cost of ₦20 million each, directly impacting the lives of countless children and communities.
We must return to prudent, people-oriented governance. Local government funds belong to the people, to the market woman, the farmer, the teacher, the pensioner, and every ordinary Nigerian who depends on government for basic amenities. Anything short of that is an abuse of office and should not be condoned. This is not only a glaring case of waste but a mockery of the very essence of governance.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
The Anambra State House of Assembly has issued a suspension for Honorable Bernard Udemezue, who represents the Ayamelum Constituency. The pertinent inquiry now is the nature of his offence.
Thank you for highlighting the inaccuracies from Bayo. In August 2017, Japan officially designated Kisarazu as “Nigeria’s hometown.” Don't allow the APC government to mislead you; they want to take credit for something that has existed for years. Here’s a picture of Bobby Ologun.
Japan designates Kisarazu as “Nigeria’s hometown”
The designation of Kisarazu, a city in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, as “Nigeria’s hometown” stems from a unique cultural and diplomatic connection between Japan and Nigeria, primarily driven by the influence of professional wrestling and a specific Nigerian-born individual.
Kisarazu was named “Nigeria’s hometown” in 2017 due to the popularity of Bobby Ologun, a Nigerian-born TV personality and mixed martial artist who has lived in Kisarazu since moving to Japan. Bobby Ologun, born Alaji Olalekan Ologun in Ibadan, Nigeria, gained fame in Japan through his appearances on television shows like Sanma no Super Karakuri TV and his career in mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, including events like K-1 and PRIDE. His charismatic presence and long-term residence in Kisarazu led the city to embrace him as a local celebrity, fostering a symbolic connection with Nigeria.
In August 2017, Kisarazu formalised this bond by designating itself as “Nigeria’s hometown” during an event where Bobby Ologun was named the city’s tourism ambassador. This was further highlighted by the establishment of a “friendship association” between Kisarazu and Nigeria, aimed at promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding. The initiative was supported by the Nigerian Embassy in Japan, with then-Ambassador Mohammed Gana Yisa attending events in Kisarazu to strengthen ties. The city also hosted cultural events, such as performances by Nigerian drummers and displays of Nigerian cuisine, to celebrate this relationship.
This designation is more symbolic than official, rooted in Ologun’s influence and Kisarazu’s desire to promote cultural diversity and tourism. It reflects a growing interest in Japan to engage with African cultures, particularly as Japan prepared for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which emphasised global inclusivity. No reports indicate that this status has been revoked, so it still holds as of 2025.
It is profoundly disheartening that, notwithstanding the pendency of several applications before the court—including duly filed and served committal proceedings—the individual who unlawfully entered the premises of Next Foods Limited in Ikeja GRA has continued to act with brazen impunity, showing utter disregard for both the authority of the court and the sanctity of public order.
It is a well-established principle of law, and indeed of civil society, that once parties have submitted their grievances to the judiciary, they are duty-bound to maintain the status quo and allow the court to determine the issues before it. Any deviation from this principle not only undermines the justice system but also sets a dangerous precedent for lawlessness.
My younger brother, who serves as the Chairman of Next Limited, and I have spared no effort in trying to identify and reach out to the woman who lays claim to the property in question, with the sincere intention of exploring a peaceful and amicable resolution. Regrettably, all such efforts have yielded no fruitful outcome, as she remains evasive and inaccessible. -PO
Hello @nigimmigration. Some people from abroad are finding it difficult to renew their passports. They keep receiving this message after entering their NIN and date of birth for verification. What should they do? Thanks.
Someone should reconfirm: 11 abandoned Nigerians in the Central African Republic cry for help.
