Demokratik toplum

Let’s dive into this topic, again—Kurds and weapons.
President Trump: We were very disappointed by the Kurds. The Kurds let us down. I’ll remember that Kurds, I’ll remember that.
Here are the facts:
▪️2017: Trump Admin allowed Shiite militias in Iraq to take Kirkuk from the Kurds. The same Shiite militias that are targeting American service members today across Iraq.
▪️2018: Trump Admin stood silent as Russia allowed Turkey take Kurdish majority Afrin in northwest Syria from Kurds.
▪️2019: Trump Admin allowed Turkey and Erdogan to invade Syria to target the Kurds.
▪️2026: Trump Admin recognized Jolani, a wanted (by the U.S.) ISIS/al Qaeda terrrost as president of Syria and threw the Kurds under the bus.
▪️2026: Kurds in Iran said NO MORE betrayals. Want us to fight? Give us our guarantees. Until then, keep your weapons.
KURDS DID NOT RECEIVE WEAPONS.
God forbid the Kurds finally stand their ground and not risk their lives only to be betrayed later.
This narrative is only coming from Trump himself. Nobody else in his administration is saying this and anyone else approached about this denies or changes the subject because they know it’s not true but they just don’t want to undermine the President. Oh, and his folks in his administration always praises the Kurds.
This is a false narrative. If you really did give weapons to the Kurds, you’re telling me the Kurds are that powerful that you couldn’t get them back if you asked? Because Kurds didn’t get weapons. Or you’re telling me you’re expecting the people without a state to distribute weapons to the entire country of Iran? Nonsense.
Here’s my take, the weapons that were supposed to be for the Kurds are stashed in some weapons depot in the region somewhere because the Kurds refused to take them and this is what the President is upset about, the Kurds refused to put themselves on the line without first getting guarantees.
Kurds are not responsible for the failures in Iran. Full stop.
@fuatonen21@fuatonen
While all these negotiations are taking place with the Iranian regime, the Mullahs continue to target the Kurds in the neighboring autonomous Kurdistan Region.
Kurds have continuously been attacked with not a condemnation from any regional country aside from the UAE.
This is why Kurds have to start looking after themselves and advance only their own interests just like the rest of the world.
Kürdistan’da Pasif Direniş
PCS sözcüsü Ferid Azad, Diyarbakır’dan Muş’a seyahati sırasında Türk askeri kontrol noktasında yaşadığı gerilimi sosyal medya hesabından paylaşarak Kürt toplumunda “Pasif Direniş” hareketine öncülük etmeye devam ediyor.
Out of touch statement by DEM Parti from Imrali Prison with Ocalan:
First off, they don’t mention Kurds until the 9th paragraph out of 10.
When they do finally mention the Kurds in the 9th paragraph, they say “integrating the Kurds into a democratic republic”—horrible and delusional take.
Why are you trying to integrate the Kurds into Turkey? Just like how you all pushed to “integrate” Kurds into Rojava with Syria? This is an attempt to erase Kurdish existence and identity in the name of a fake “democratic republic” that doesn’t and will never exist. Turks are jailing Turks as we speak, what makes you think Turks will give Kurds rights?
Why don’t you integrate Turks into Kurdistan instead? Why don’t you integrate Turks into Kurdishness instead?
Just weak and embarrassing.
The rest of the statement talks about “societies filled with anger” blah blah blah. What? Why do you care about “societies”? These far leftists are so weird, they involve themselves in issues that have nothing to do with them as if they’re all knowing or have a say.
Come back to reality, you’re irrelevant in “societies.”
The entire statement reads as: We’ve been compromised by MIT.
Turkish society and government has been harmful to Kurdish society and existence since 1923, that should be your sole focus.
If your goal is to weaken the Kurds through “integration” and delusional ideologies that are out of touch with the lives of the people on the ground then you do NOT speak for Kurds in NORTH KURDISTAN, Bakur.
You are handing Turkey everything it wants and giving Kurds nothing in return. You’re horrible negotiators
Every Kurd should outright reject this nonsense.
It is Turkey not the Kurds that need to give to the Kurds. Kurds need autonomy and preservation of their identity in a hostile, authoritarian and racist Turkish state.
You are willingly and voluntarily weakening the position of the Kurds as if you’re being “diplomatic.”
You are afraid to say Kurds in a statement that has to do with Kurdish rights. You are afraid to demand outright what all Kurds want, self-determination. You are afraid to demand restoration of Kurdish culture and history in Kurdish lands. You are afraid to say Kurdistan. Full stop.
The Turkish government sees how easy it is to take advantage of you.
Again, you’re compromised.

Former U.S. Amb James Jeffrey pushed back on President Trump's claims that Kurdish partners had stolen weapons: "I would not worry too much about this. Nobody thinks that our Kurdish partners and allies have, nobody except perhaps Donald Trump, has done something wrong. He says these things. I worked for him for two years. He says things a lot without thinking through whether they're actually true or what the impact of them are. But absent any follow-up, and you're not gonna see any follow-up, don't worry about it." - @the_amargi
A response to the lying Trump: What more is left for the Kurds to do so that you stop criticizing them every day in your press conferences?
Ask @grok: (How many casualties did the Kurds suffer in Iraq and Syria during the war to defeat ISIS?)
Kurdish Casualties in the War Against ISIS:
In Syria (SDF/YPG): Approximately 11,000 to 12,000 fighters were killed, and tens of thousands more were wounded.
In Iraq (Peshmerga): Approximately 1,800 to 2,000 Peshmerga fighters were martyred, and more than 10,000 were wounded.
Conclusion: These immense sacrifices played a fundamental and decisive role in the territorial defeat of the ISIS caliphate.
It’s time to correct Trump once and for all: the US, under the Trump administration, betrayed the Kurds.
This betrayal was orchestrated by Tom Barrack, the US ambassador to Syria and special envoy for Syrian affairs. Barrack has long represented Turkish and Qatari interests while being paid by American taxpayers.
Trump’s claim that weapons were given to the Kurds so they could pass them on to the Iranian opposition is one of the most absurd statements ever made by a US politician at that level. The US already has military bases in Kurdistan and could directly arm any Iranian opposition group if it wanted to.
But unfortunately, these days, almost nothing coming from the US administration is surprising anymore.

I asked President Donald Trump: Yesterday you said you gave the Kurds weapons and they kept them for themselves. A U.S. military official says (tells me) the Kurds have not received any weapons, and all Kurdish parties deny receiving them?”
Trump responded: “The officials are wrong”
Let’s do a honest break down what President Trump said on the Kurds:
▪️He said he’s “disappointed” in the Kurds.
If we’re being honest, Kurds were recently disappointed as of January of 2026 in the administration’s decision to legitimize Jolani in Syria. Jolani was a wanted jihadist with a $10,000,000 bounty by the U.S. on his head. But thanks to the actions of our ambassador to Turkey, Barrack, who advanced Turkey’s interest in Syria by not providing accurate information to the President, he was made President of Syria. We ultimately chose Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia over the Kurds who fought alongside our service members.
Kurds were not going to allow themselves to be betrayed again, especially two months after they were undermined and betrayed in Syria.
▪️He said Kurds “take take take.”
Kurds never take. When kurds receive anything from the U.S., it’s because U.S. needs them as a key ally in the region, for a battle, against an enemy, for an upcoming war, whatever it may be. Kurds also receive basic weapons as it is the U.S. long standing policy to not undermine the central government’s they reside in.
▪️“They have a great reputation in congress.”
They do, very true. Why? Because Congressional members visit and speak with the Kurds directly. They speak with the people and communities the Kurds have saved and sacrificed for, like ethnic and religious minorities. They saw first hand how it was the Kurds not Syria, Turkey, Iraq or Iran that protected U.S. service members during the Iraq war.
I don’t expect Congress to have a great view of Iraq, Iran, Syria or Turkey because they are not on our side. That’s the simple truth.
▪️“They fight hard when they get paid.”
Of course. Kurds don’t have a state, they need weapons if they need to fight ISIS, al Qaeda and all the other radical Islamists in the region. Paying them to cover the basics is part of the deal we have with them. Kurds in Syria and Iraq are often the first line of defense—they lost 15,000+ lives in the fight against ISIS.
Turkey helped ISIS directly yet were trying to give them F-35 jets. Why aren’t we holding Turkey to the same degree of accountability as we are to the stateless Kurds?
We lost thousands of Americans during the Iraq War, spent trillions to help Iraqis, invested with advanced weapons and institution building and so much more yet they still take orders from Tehran—where’s the accountability? Why are we picking on the Kurds who had our back in Iraq? Where zero American lives were lost during the war in the autonomous Kurdistan Region.
I believe President Trump is once again receiving false information on the Kurds just like he did during Trump 1.0 when Erdogan visited the White House and quickly after that the U.S. tried to withdraw from Syria in 2019, just like in January 2026 in Syria and again here with Iran.
Don’t forget, the Kurds are non-state actors. Treating them as if they have total sovereignty is unfair. These accusations against the Kurds, a key ally of the United States, puts the Kurds in a very dangerous position.
@realDonaldTrump@POTUS I’m happy to provide you and your time with honest information on the Kurds, because whoever is talking to you about the Kurds clearly hates the Kurds and wants to see the U.S.-Kurdish alliance totally destroyed.
🚨 IF TRUMP WAS MISLED, HE SHOULD LOOK AT TOM BARRACK
The Kurdish people are not one man, one faction, or one network.
They are a nation of more than 50 million people, many of whom fought and died alongside the United States against ISIS and Iran-backed forces.
If weapons were withheld or promises were broken, then the problem is not “the Kurds.”
The problem is that Washington trusted the wrong intermediaries and the wrong people on the ground.
Tom Barrack and those around him should answer for who they chose to rely on.
