📌A century-long policy of denial against the Kurds has failed.

111 years ago today, the arrest of more than 200 Armenian intellectuals marked the beginning of an ethnic, religious and cultural genocide. Hundreds of thousands of Armenians were exiled and massacred. Other Christian communities of these lands also suffered immense losses. 1/2

The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty, presented his 2025 annual activity report at yesterday’s session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and answered questions.

I asked Mr. O’Flaherty why the situation of decree laws (KHKs) and the Academics for Peace, an unresolved human rights issue for a decade affecting hundreds of thousands of lives, was not included at all in the Turkey section of the report.
