How can you call yourself a free speech absolutist and the whinge about the consequences of your own words? He told advertisers to go fuck themselves, so they decided to do so on other platforms with better audiences and ad systems.
#elon's recent buffoonery is a great excuse to leave twitter. no one is advertising one here because he's a divisive megalomaniac and a terrible product leader to boot. Threads and #mastodon are fantastic alternatives. There's far less right wing fuckery going on over there.
If you know me, you know I'm committed to truth and fairness. Here's the truth. Not a single authentic user on X saw IBM’s, Comcast’s, or Oracle’s ads next to the content in Media Matters’ article. Only 2 users saw Apple’s ad next to the content, at least one of which was Media Matters. Data wins over manipulation or allegations. Don't be manipulated. Stand with X.

Both interactions and people are generally more genuine, and not having to fight a monetization/ragebait-focused algorithm has been a breath of fresh air. It's also just a depressing cesspool over here and nothing that Elon is doing is going to make it better.
Anecdotal observation: I've been using #mastodon as my daily social driver for a few weeks now, and both the level and quality of engagement there is profoundly better than x/#Twitter.
