My 9 year old has made a word by combining ‘collapsed’ and ‘combined’ to describe what happens in some of his video games.

Raising kids with disabilities in world where people/groups won’t even attempt to include them is beyond hard. We spend an unfair amount of time and energy on trying to help them fit in spaces not built for them.

It’s also tiring being angry about it.

PSA - if you’ve raised kids who think it’s ok to use the R word to make fun of neurodiverse people, you’re a terrible human being.

On a related note - having to explain to my kid what that word and the associated gestures mean is equally terrible.

Unpopular opinion:

Parents of neurodivergent children shouldn’t have to be born into parenthood ready for a bloodbath fight to get their children basic human rights.

Children have a right to an education, this does include those who need extra supports.
