@SketchesbyBoze I agree! My 12 year old has devoured three Jane Austen books, The Hobbit, and is rereading The Lord of the Rings. Her goal this year is to read a stack of classics that is as tall as she is. These great books bring her (all of my kids, actually), so much joy.
Warren Farha of 8th Day Books died yesterday. To give you an idea of what we have lost, look at this interview he gave to an Orthodox paper about bookselling as a Christian vocation. He was not just a friend, but an inspiration, and a model for living.

@roddreher We drive an hour to visit Eighth Day Books, at least once a quarter. We love and appreciate the care and hard work it took to curate such a remarkable collection. He (and his work) will be sorely missed.
@SketchesbyBoze Yes. The town we live in just lost it's last bookstore- we were crushed. Now to shop for books in person, we must drive 45 minutes away.
@SketchesbyBoze I had to read MD in college- I never finished it. I hated the book for 20 years in large part because of the professor that taught it. I just finished listening to it and absolutely adore it. It will be going on my kids' read aloud list for next year.
@Andrewnsnyder We are reading That Hideous Strength right now. In a few days we will have read the whole series as a family. The more I read these works, the more I love them and more wisdom I see in them.
@FaithKMoore I started a book the other day (one that could possibly be a Storytime book) and I put it down and am waiting to pick it up again until after tomorrow's book announcement.
@FaithKMoore I enjoyed this episode so very much! I had a brief, wonderful flash back to my children's literature class while listening and just had to smile. Fairy tales are extremely underrated.
@MichelleDLesley When we make ice cream at home, we do a dirty chai (coffee or espresso and chai mix), but I would love to see how Blue Bell would do it.
@ohgeenatalie I used to have this memorized - both of my daughters' favorite book- and being able to recite it made car rides so much easier in those early, car seat hating years.
@MichelleDLesley We used Zinsser wallpaper remover at a higher concentration than recommended ๐ฌ. However, we were stripping 3-7 layers of wallpaper at a time (our house is almost 100 years old and wallpaper was in every room of the main floor)
Why is it that I always get ideas that I can do something easily when my husband is gone, then when I try to do said project, it does not go easily? If my husband were home, said project would be done in 1/4 of the time and look better.
