Nigerian Man Caught at Dublin Airport with Fake Portuguese Passport Trying to Flee to Canada

A 26-year-old Nigerian national, Ibrahim Makonjuola of Clondalkin, Dublin, was arrested at Dublin Airport on Monday morning as he attempted to board a flight to Canada using a forged Portuguese passport.

The man, carrying two large suitcases, was intercepted at Terminal 1 departures. He faces charges under the Immigration Act for failing to produce a valid passport as a non-national, and under fraud legislation for possession of a false instrument.

Gardaí confirmed the passport was fake after official checks. Makonjuola had entered Ireland from Cyprus, claiming his life was in danger in Lagos, Nigeria. He has lived in Ireland with known addresses and receives social welfare.

Bail was refused at Dublin District Court, with the judge citing him as a significant flight risk. He was remanded in custody to appear again later this week.

This case underscores ongoing issues with identity fraud and illegal travel attempts by foreign nationals at Irish airports.

I'm so tired of these over privileged idiots. She lives in Foxrock, one of the most homogeneous and affluent societies in Ireland. The closest thing to a migrant she sees is her doctor neighbour or the barrister who serves her vegan soy latte. She is exhausting, and was behind the court case the IHREC brought to the Highcourt whereupon they used tax payers money to argue the case that illegal male asylum seekers in tents are having their rights upended and should be paid compensation and be accommodated. That case saw to it that Irish people were pushed beneath male asylum seekers and all asylum seekers when it comes to a right to be accommodated. I don't see @sineadgibney having a shit fit over Road Bouchaker's clearly racist utterings before he stabbed three 5 year olds and a creche worker. "Shit Irish. Shit fucking Irish". We are an ethnicity in our own right.

HE WAS "HELLBENT" AND THE CHILDREN WERE "HIS MAIN FOCUS"

On Monday, June 15, 2026 (Day 4 or 5 of evidence) a childcare worker, Leanne Flynn, gave evidence today at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin. She described intervening in the alleged knife attack on Parnell Square East on November 23, 2023.

Ms Flynn was lining up children in pairs to walk them to a nearby crèche when she saw a man (alleged to be Bouchaker) approaching in a crouched position.

She witnessed him pull a knife and begin “ferociously jabbing” towards the children multiple times.

She shouted at him to get away, ran at him, and grabbed the back of his jacket to pull him away from the children.

During the tussle, she was stabbed in the back (left side). She initially felt something wet but didn’t immediately realise she was injured.

Bouchaker reportedly turned, looked at her seeming “confused” or “frantic” (as if not expecting an adult to intervene), then went back towards the children.

She continued trying to protect the children, shouting for them to run and calling for help. Members of the public then intervened.

Ms Flynn was later treated for a collapsed lung, severed diaphragm, and partial spleen removal; she spent a month in hospital. Despite these injuries, Mr Bouchaker is not charged with attended murder on Ms Flynn (possibly pointing to the fact he was not intending to murder Ms Flynn but rather she got in the way of him attempting to murder the children).

She told the court the children appeared to be his “main focus” and that he seemed “hell-bent on getting the children.” Defence counsel noted no suggestion that anyone else caused the injuries, and acknowledged the knife’s terrifying potential.

The trial continues before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and a jury of nine men and three women. It is expected to last up to five weeks overall. Bouchaker maintains not guilty pleas to all eight charges (including three counts of attempted murder).

Last week the court heard testimony that Mr.Bouchaker, who needs an interpreter after 26 years in Ireland, was heard shouting "shit Irish, shit fucking Irish" prior to the attack. He had received a letter that day from Social Welfare which he was not happy about. Mr. Bouchaker had previously been described as "inappropraitely jocular" and "cheerful" when charges were put to him by a psychiatrist for the defence.

I’ve just been checked over by an ambulance after a group of foreign lads came up behind me while I was doing a debate stand, dragged me to the ground, and kicked and punched me.

I passed out halfway through and don’t remember everything that happened. From what I can recall, it started while I was sitting down, and they took some of my equipment during the assault.

The police arrived about five minutes after the assault, recovering as much as they could. One of my cameras exploded when they tried to seize it, or steal it. Instead of running away with it, they destroyed it, causing the battery to explode.
