I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. At what point do elected officials, the folks that have been given the power to represent our views, beliefs, hopes, and core values, begin to realize ...
@chris_mccord@ivarvong Feels like a convergence is happening around the CF workers/DO. Celld by @rough__sea and the explanation behind it had me thinking elixir/erlang/otp and I fully expected to see something like this.
@Tesla@elonmusk had an idea while attempting to use FSD to follow my child’s bus as a chaperone for a field trip. Busses are required to drive slow with their hazard lights on. Even in sloth mode FSD attempted to pass the bus. Maybe we could introduce “caravan” mode where we can tap the vehicle to follow or at the very least have a way to directly set the FSD speed to ensure we can follow a slow moving vehicle in these situations.
@xai@elonmusk when working with grok via the web UI and a file is generated and then changes need to be made to that file it seems that it would more efficient to send back diffs instead of the entire contents of the file every time. Also it’s super simple for the end user to apply diffs. Just seems to make sense unless the UI is where the full chat context & history is stored. Cheaper across the wire for both parties.
@wholemars I hope this is only due to some regulation in china. I’d hate for the y to be the only car with a stalk after getting used to buttons in all of the other vehicles.
Congratulations @SpaceX on all of your hard work and dedication that led to your success on the first chopstick catch attempt. One for the history books for sure.
Just so we are all on the same page, @ElonMusk has provided more rural broadband in the last day than the government could do in 4 years and has just saved U.S. astronauts who were going to be stuck in space till 2025.
I need people to understand something with the news coverage regarding effects of hurricane Helene. There is a lot more to the NC Mountains than Asheville.
Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Vilas, Sugar Grove, Elk Park, West Jefferson, Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Sylva, Cullowhee, Brevard, Bryson City, Hendersonville, Cherokee, Waynesville, Burnsville, Candler, Canton, Spruce Pine, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Linville, Marshall, Maggie Valley, Newland, Grandfather, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Old Fort, Morganton, Marion are just a few of the cities and towns that have been flooded and/or destroyed. The counties of Yancey, Mitchell, Avery, Ashe, Watauga, Transylvania, Burke, Caldwell, Alleghany, Madison, Buncombe, McDowell, Rutherford, Polk, Henderson, Wilkes, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Clay, Cherokee, and Swain are devastated and in need of the same help, some even more.
Other counties that fall under various definitions of Western North Carolina include: Alexander County, Catawba County, Cleveland County, Surry County and Yadkin County. When these counties are added, they form a total regional area of roughly 11,750 square miles (30,400 km2).
This makes the region roughly the size of Massachusetts. Western North Carolina holds 11% of our state's population.
There are millions of people up there with no electricity, no communication, no water, and no way to get out or let rescue teams even know where they are. I am not taking anything away from Asheville and the utter destruction there or any other areas in NC that have damage. The level of destruction is unimaginable. But it's not one or two cities or towns that are in need of help.
This does not include the destroyed areas in the Tennessee mountains, Western Virginia, Georgia, or South Carolina.
Please do 2 things for me:
1. Donate to Operation Airdrop, Samaritan’s Purse, or Fleet of Angels (or all 3!)
2. Contact news media to get coverage for ALL of Western North Carolina. People need to know the full scope of this disaster so that more people can get desperately needed help. And so more people can be located because a lot of us have loved ones up there and we don't know if they're dead or alive.
These are our homes. These are places we raise our families. These are communities I work in on a daily basis. My heart breaks for everyone involved.
@elonmusk Tesla customer feedback idea: a simple status bar that shows progress through various phases once a reservation number is assigned a VIN. This has the potential to reduce customer service queries and will properly manage expectations.
I’ve been patiently waiting since the night of the reveal when I placed a reservation, then as soon as I received the email to configure the foundation series I did. Even chose the AWD model instead of the cyber beast to get it faster, that was over a month ago, still waiting for the VIN. I’m sure it’s going to be great when I finally see it pop up in the app 😀
@wholemars I’ve paid in full for each model I’ve owned(4). Could have saved a quite a bit with a transfer but I’ll always pay in full, I can’t stand monthly subscriptions.
Waiting for our CyberTruck VIN for the last month feels like a child waiting for their birthday. We placed our reservation the night of the event in 2019, as soon as it ended.
@FSDdreams This has gotten me several times on various versions of FSD. It’s understandable but can be quite frustrating when it slams on the brakes and makes everyone fly forward.
12.3.2.1 here and I consistently experiencing 1 & 2. For me the right hugging bias isn't terrible except for the fact that I'm constantly worried that it's going to drop into the ditch or rub the curbs. Because of this I find that I drive with the cameras up so that I can take over if the ditches and curbs get too close for comfort.
@wholemars My hope is that FSD becomes the catalyst to get there on purpose or by accident and we realize that trips become much smoother with stop and go traffic. Most stop and go traffic that I’ve experienced has been due to accidents and/or the inability to merge for various reasons.
I’ve always envisioned this: If all vehicles on the road could communicate with each other using an open, standardized and secure protocol we could already be avoiding the vast majority of the accidents that we see today. This could have happened already with the sensors and systems on all current vehicles. I feel like the only reason it hasn’t happened is simply because death and destruction are profitable and it seems on a large scale that profit has become more important than life.
